The Anti Science Left

I love believers like Bloomberg. I heard his diatribe about climate change and hurricanes and I still haven't stopped laughing.

Global warming is such a crook of shit. It hasn't fucking warmed in 15 years!!!

Flatter than a dead dog on the road!!!

The arctic has certainly warmed. Otherwise you have got to be kidding!!!

1887, 1933, 1969 were all seasons worse than this one.

Nothing shows a increase in hurricane activity. GLOBAL ACE shows the opposite in fact.

It's such a crock. But look at Bloomberg's idiotic statement that he doesn't know if hurricanes are caused by climate change but he will endorse Obama because Obama will fight climate change.

These people are freaking lunatics. How on earth did this man become the Mayor of New York City. He's a raving idiot.

Give Obama credit. Just imagine how far inland Hurricane Sandy had pushed the water, if Obama had not stopped the rising of the oceans!

Think about that and thank him for saving Indiana and Kansas.

On one hand, liberals claim that humans are no more significant in the great scheme of things than a lowly worm or insect. On the other hand they claim that human influence can have a strong and irreversible effect on the world.

While I can't deny - just by personal experience and seeing the longer and warmer summers and the shorter and warmer winters - that there seems to be a general warming, I have serious doubts that it is caused by human activity.

There seems to be warming on Mars, in spite the remarkable shortage of SUV's and coal-burning generation stations there. Ditto for pretty much all the other planets in the Solar System.

A few years ago the most highly respected scientists warned about freezing to death. Then another group of scientists came along, realizing that their grants won't be renewed if they don't publish something - ANYTHING - came up with a lucky guess: Global warming, which seemed to coincide with the regular cycles of the Sun. So, the current craze is Global Warming, or more politically correctly Climate Change.

This is something entirely new and unexpected. There never was a climate change on Earth before humans and SUV's. There never was an Ice Age. There never was warming before. If humans could only go away and die, there would still be those glorious dinosaurs roaming the Earth.

On their behalf, the Employment Prevention Agency (aka EPA) denied water to thousands of California farmers, condemning them to bankruptcy and starvation, in order to save a breed of minnows that the aforementioned agency considers more worthy than the farmers. In order to promote the well-being of a certain species of rat (or squirrel) the same agency forbids the cutting down highly flammable brush which resulted in millions of dollars worth of destructive fires.

In the meantime, Al Gore has a palace that consumes more energy than five or ten ordinary homes, he rides in limousines and flies on private jets.

You aren't helping at all.

Believers of Darwinism are convinced that something as wonderfully complex as the human brain (sorry rdean, you don't qualify) just came about, accidentally, helter-skelter, without design and plan.

They mock people of faith.

Nothing is a greater leap of faith than Darwinism.

Actually I've always thought that Darwinism took a 2nd seat behind the belief in the Big Bang wrt faith.. What kind of faith does it take to accept that EVERY BIT OF MATTER AND ENERGY in the universe fit on the head of a pin before the ignition? The folks that just shrug and swallow aren't really getting the implications of how much of our known reality has to be suspended to buy that..

We're also finding out how little a role Darwin's adaptation theory actually plays in evolution. The science is already leaps and bounds beyond his work. That's why it's good to retain some humility when you're selling the current state of science.. Gullibles like RDean are CONSTANTLY buying faulty and incomplete assertions. Even from political hacks.

Do you people have any idea how many people died before vaccines? Tens of millions wouldn't be alive today. Nuclear??? Reliable source of energy. Why the left opposes such so utterly makes no economic sense.

We're so fucking lucky for electricy and everything that it isn't even funny. I find it frankly disgusting that some of you can diss it as we're a trillion times better off for the last 200 years. We have reliable medical, farming and our life are so much better.

No one has to freeze

The anti science left are nuts who think psycology is on par with chemistry and by doing studies and anectdotes that are conflicting and dont prove shit...
Everything is dangerous to these people, everything causes cancer....it's a fricking joke

They may think psychology is equal, but they certainly don't respect it as they don't allow real debate into race. There's serious difference. There's some serious questions to be asked.

They don't want us to touch why some people are violent?
They don't want us to touch anything serious.

If we were to be diplomatic about it -- They RAISED valid concerns about vaccines and nuclear and GMO, and food radiation, and "alternatives" and all that other stuff that NEEDED to be looked into.. The sad part is that the LEFT then rejects the report and the risk assessments. No harm in raising CONCERNS -- that what the scientific process does. But when those concerns are answered and you cannot rebutt --- it's time to move on...

THey honestly can't say the same about evolution for instance. Because the science there is STILL ongoing and dynamic and our understanding of how all this diversity came into being is STILL being discovered. But no --- Jesus didn't ride a Dinosaur into Jerusalem.. I'll give ya that..

Well done --- as usual by the Reason staff.. I popped some GMO popcorn into my nuclear powered microwave to enjoy while I watched this..

Isn't it also the progressive left that has the hots for such frauds as homeopathic remedies and crystal worship???

Not really. That was the 60's Flower Children that grew old and became Teabaggers.

First, the people on this board that I have seen stating that vaccines are dangerous have been libertarians. Second, poorly sited nuclear is dangerous. Just as dams built in geologically unstable areas are dangerous.

Don't have to go back 200 years. Average Life expectancy prior to WW1, even in the richest of nations, was about 45 years. Malnourishment and malnutrition was common even in the richest of nations. Only the wealthiest did not were coats in the house in the winter in our nothern states. And all sweated and suffered in the days of 100 degrees in the summer.

We had reliable agriculture. Not sure but that will be past tense from here on in.

Things are vastly better than they were 100 years ago.

And now there is this revolution I have seen in my lifetime. The knowledge of the world instantly available anywhere there is a connection to the net. This is a paradign shift in power that is only now beginning to be appreciated. A bunch of scruffy young people outdo the federal, state, and local agencies in getting relief to the victims of Sandy. Because they understand the use of social networks to get information out instantly, while all too many people like myself haven't a clue on how to use this technology. This revolution is just beginning. I think that it will be as significant as the one instigated by the American Revolution.

First off, you are an idiot.

.

Gallup polling shows that 46 percent of Americans believe in the creationist view that God created humans in their present form within the last 10,000 years. Among Republicans, 58 percent take that view, along with 41 percent of Democrats and 39 percent of independents.
