The South Koreans can not defend themselves against N Korea and China sorry that would happen if we leave...We have treaty's that were by the Germany and Japan can not developed army's.....Just the talk of giving Japan a missile defence system has causes problems with China and the UN. Western Europe socialism have taken it's toll on their Army's. They cut funding for their security from the GNP about every year. We are the only superpower and George Washington being the wise man that he was did not have to fear the nuclear capabilities of other countries nor a global world economy to deal with "that will not change". If you think the cold war is over you are not paying attention to current events that would prove you wrong.

If so, you are painfully misinformed.

During the cold war West Germany had the LARGEST army in Nato after the USA and it was entirely mechanized. Since thier unifacation they absorbed the large GDR army into the FRG army for the largest armed force in Europe.

China is not invading south korea, our 30,000 men is not preventing that,

JSDF (Japan Self Defense Force) is a modern fully capable military that includes the third largest navy in the world (after the USA and Russia) as well as a modern US equiped airforce and ground forces that include a home designed tank.

BUT - I don't regret our listening to people's pleas for help when they are being bullied. If you're a doctor and you see a traffic accident, should you stop to offer help even though you might get sued for malpractice if it goes poorly?
I think so.
I think when you are blessed with the means to help someone in need, well .... I have a hard time criticizing someone for trying to help someone in need. In following that policy have we made mistakes? Of course - we're human. But just because we cannot do it perfectly, does that mean we should abandon the effort? Not imho.

I don't think we should have gone into Iraq when we did and we CERTAINLY shouldn't have done it under false pretense. We had bigger fish to fry and we allowed them to swim away.

But I don't think EVERY attempt to respond to pleas for help has been a mistake.

The intelligence used to convince congress to go along with Bush on Iraq was wrong. No real debate there.
So it's clear that congress can't really be blamed for believing the bad intell. But can Bush be blamed? Unclear - was he aware of the intelligence doctoring or was it a Cheney operation that Bush was unaware of? I'll leave you all to debate those finer points. But it's clear to me that the "blame difusion" game is just that - a game.

Maybe you don't like the Democratic members of Congress - fair enough. Maybe you don't like the Republicans in Congress - also fair enough.

But trying to get Congress to accept a share of the blame for one of our nation's biggest screw-ups is simply not supported by any facts or evidence. Wishful thinking don't make it so ....
