Ask yourself, why would it be a good idea to cut coverage to flood-prone homes? I know it is hard to conceptualize personal responsibility and/or efficiency/waste reduction for things like double coverage for the same type of loss. That is a different issue and you have ignored the FACT that government DOES provide healthcare coverage to those who cannot afford it. It's called Medicaid (where the federal government forces it on states and requires the states to fund it).

The biggest argument is the lack of personal responsibility on the party of many Americans, at the expense of other Americans. In a self-governing society, government should only have the authority and power its governed would otherwise have by natural right at birth. Health insurance is a product that is and has always been purchased in the private sector. It follows that Government should not have the authority to effectively take money from one person and give it to another for the recipient's sole benefit and the robbed person's detriment. Nor should government restrict the quality of the product or service that some can afford, so it can be equal for those who pay nothing for the same services. There's also the issue with government engaging in the private sector or competing against the private sector while also being subsidized by those competitors in the form of taxation.

Now, make an argument that military funding is taking money from one and giving to another. Please. Be that stupid. I am begging.


Better yet, reassert that FEMA argument. Let's talk about it more. Let's examine how FEMA is taking from one person and giving to another at the sole benefit to the recipient.
