Hasan, the sole suspect in the massacre of 13 fellow US soldiers in Texas, attended the controversial Dar al-Hijrah mosque in Great Falls, Virginia, in 2001 at the same time as two of the September 11 terrorists, The Sunday Telegraph has learnt. His mother's funeral was held there in May that year.

The preacher at the time was Anwar al-Awlaki, an American-born Yemeni scholar who was banned from addressing a meeting in London by video link in August because he is accused of supporting attacks on British troops and backing terrorist organisations.

Hasan's eyes "lit up" when he mentioned his deep respect for al-Awlaki's teachings, according to a fellow Muslim officer at the Fort Hood base in Texas, the scene of Thursday's horrific shooting spree.

As investigators look at Hasan's motives and mindset, his attendance at the mosque could be an important piece of the jigsaw. Al-Awlaki moved to Dar al-Hijrah as imam in January, 2001, from the west coast, and three months later the September 11 hijackers Nawaf al-Hamzi and Hani Hanjour began attending his services. A third hijacker attended his services in California.

Hasan was praying at Dar al-Hijrah at about the same time, and the FBI will now want to investigate whether he met the two terrorists.

Charles Allen, a former under-secretary for intelligence at the Department of Homeland Security, has described al-Awlaki, who now lives in Yemen, as an "al-Qaeda supporter, and former spiritual leader to three of the September 11 hijackers... who targets US Muslims with radical online lectures encouraging terrorist attacks from his new home in Yemen".

Can we move this to conspiracy threads?

Why? Does it bother YOU that his past is being looked at BY the FBI as stated in the article and their MIGHT be ties? After all the FBI has taken ALL of his belongings and his computer and I'll bet there is MORE than this.

What are YOU afraid of Leftwinger? WHY relegate this to "Conspiracy"? Take you head out of the fuckin' sand, BOY.

 I'm with you T

Looks like Hasan was the 20th 9-11 terrorist

You got something big here

well gee, 9-11. Hmmmmmmmmmmmm! lets see,I guess Bush screwed up royally for almost 7 years because he and his bunch of cronies did nothing to stop this lunatic, what do ya think! Maybe if they would have spent less time on their farce in Iraq he might have been stopped long ago

Oh for pities sake no one is claiming that. What is being said is that this looks more and more to be linked all be it distantly at this time to Al Qeada. There have been other attacks by Muslim US soldiers on their fellow soldiers already. It is likely that we may need to start paying a little more attention to what some of these guys are saying and doing before we start trying to ship them overseas.

Jake what are you smoking? NO one is claiming that this dude was involved in 9/11 or new anything about 9/11. What the hell is it with leftist dill weeds (and EOTS) that 2+2 invariably equals 5?

You don't get off that easy. Your sarcasm is noted.

This situation is still a CURRENT EVENT, still under investigation and no firm conclusions have been drawn about Hassan's possible ties to organized Islamic Terrorism.

Wishing it to be a "a conspiracy theory" doesn't make it so.

Yes eots I know I'm not a terribly good typist - arthritis does that to you - and I suck at proof reading.

And I didn't figure you'd get it thanks for proving me right.

We need to start paying attention to what some of these guys are saying and doing *before* we take them into the Armed Forces and pay for years and years to provide them an expensive education and give them access to information they would not otherwise be able to put their mitts on.

The idea that Hassan may have *any* link to Al-Q is horrific, on any level, in any form.

Dayam!

My observation is that this guy had been admonished, and sent to somewhere he'd rather not be...

He was also noted for his radical speech and especially in regard to ISLAM, and Radical Islam's fight against the WEST.

You gotta admit that's a pretty precarious perch to be on especially being IN the Military...no?

And lets not forget he became radicalized after he joined the Army. It takes a few years to make Major and things only began to get out of control during the last year or two.

How could he be even kept in the Army with an attitude like that? Why did he do it?
He did it because he was a muslim. He was not an American. There is no other explanation. He simply played the Army for a free M.D. and when it came time to pay-up he did the allah-akbar bullshit and slaughtered the stupid, naive, infidels.

The next guy I'd fire is the base commandant for his inept force protection. A lady cop had to enter the base to shoot this terrorist because all the army guns were locked up?? What if it was a real terror attack with 10 or 20 well armed terrorists? What would that body count be?
