Okay so here is how you beat the tomato tariff. Go to Home Depot and buy a tomato plant. Put it in the proper size pot and patient. In a while you will have super awesome tomato’s without all the wetback disease on them. Here is what I don’t get, they say along with all the other shit that will cost more, they say she’ll fish and meat will go up. This is also not a problem. What you do is to find a butcher and buy food meat. It’s been about ten years since I have bought any fish or meat from the store. Far as sea food go’s, I can pretty much step out my back door and have all the sea food I want any time of the year and I know for a fact that some dumb chink didn’t raise it in a sewer pond. Tariffs make Chinese products more expensive.

If you don't buy those products, you don't pay those tariffs.

The way tariffs actually work is that American products jack their prices to match the tariffed ones. I watched it happen when Trump imposed the tariffs on steel. It does not work the way you say. Maybe it is supposed to, but if you check out the prices on the global market, you will see it is not the case.

China and its factories will end up paying for these tariffs, otherwise the US will go elsewhere for low quality products made in unregulated factories using below minimum wage workers. True, price of steel has risen, mostly due to the fact that our producers don't have capacity to make up for lowering imported steel volume. Price around $4000 is about the same where has been in past two years.

Price of aluminum was going up and down and is on about the same level where it's been in 2014. Wonder why? Because we don't depend on aluminum imports as much as we depend on steel. Once our steel production increases, the price of steel will stabilize.

When you can't compete with Chinese imports because of their price fixing, you're forced to shut down. Ramping up production doesn't happen in instant, it's a process, and it may take time, but when it happens, we will be much less dependent on imports. I hope this explanation helps.
