The trade deficit is going the other way.

China's population and more importantly its labor force fraction adjusted for China's limited exemptions to the one child policy and pension ages with restriction on reentry into the labor force that compete with Greece is shrinking China. Even with Automation China will eventually will implode so cutting the cord is past due.

They export so much crap to us, tariffs are devastating for them.

Without the US to buy all their cheap crap, their economy would implode. That’s why they are so desperate for a trade deal.

Thankfully President Trump is holding his ground and will keep imposing tariffs on them.

Without the US to buy all their cheap crap, their economy would implode.

So would Walmart and a handful of other big businesses.

That'd be a painful transition for us too. I think we'd be better off though.

China has to worry about its slave population. As long as they can BS them, they'll have a chance of surviving.

Thinking the USA has any clout with China is blind egoism & blind economics
They could care less

The Chinese government does care about their population.

Trade war hurts the American consumer who pays for the tariff

The only thing that is going to happen with these tariffs is that Wal Mart and all the other places that import their products will simply pass the cost on to the consumer.

Leftists in the US thought that stupid-ass one-child law was a brilliant idea when it was first implemented.

China’s trade surplus with America is less then 4% of their total GDP.

Of course they can survive a trade war...indefinitely.
