I remember back in the early nineties, Bill Gothard, being revered as the leading expert in child rearing training, just as the article noted. His seminars were incredibly popular with attendance sold out and given in giant venues. It was like the pope coming to town. It's extremely unfortunate how power can corrupt people, and it seems it almost always does. My heart hurts for those harmed by this, and hopefully the damage won't leave permanent scars.

The title of this thread is very misleading. It's not really about Duggar, but about Bill Gothard. Granted Duggar's name is bigger resulting from the TV series, but him having ties to Gothard is not the object here. The object is Bill Gothard. I agree with you on all points, but I would like to add that even without the perversion, Christians are still judgmental, especially when it comes to gay people. They have no room to point any fingers, and certainly have no moral high ground over anyone.

I've read your comments on how gays are filthy degenerates, which is ignorant, to say the least. I think that's very ugly and you should probably just worry about yourself.

If you are a fornicator or was ever one, you don't have the right to judge harshly the Palin pdaughter for not following abstinence with the MOH recipient. The only ones who could remotely have cause are those who followed her advise on abstinence. I can't judge her because I engaged in hot, pre-marital sex when I was a young man.
