And yet, any time someone questions rising gun violence and that we need to do something about it, the gun lobby goes ballistic. We are not even allowed to discuss the issue. Bob Costas questioned a rising gun culture in the NFL and the right screamed for his head

We are allowed to discuss traffic deaths and the ways to mitigate them. But do the same for guns and the right hides behind the second amendment and claims there is NOTHING we can do

I do not know why this particular story is "newsworthy", there are plenty of stories of crime and adolescents. Sensationalizing it makes this a tawdry issue with overly simplistic views and remedies for this type of behavior.

Desensitization and repetition are the two most effective techniques used when teaching soldiers to kill. So yeah, I think movies and video gams and music videos play a big role.

My two oldest boys and their cousin went on a crime spree when they were 13...they hit the drug store and stole condoms and batteries.

They didn't need no stinkin knife.

They had no chance in hell of putting the condoms to good use...I don't remember what they needed the batteries for. Probably GAME BOY!
