Teen birth rates highest in most religious states
MSNBC - 9-17-09Link may be due to communities frowning on contraception, researchers say
U.S. states whose residents have more conservative religious beliefs on average tend to have higher rates of teenagers giving birth, a new study suggests.

Maybe some people in the red states should put down the twinkies and pick up the Trojans?

Well perhaps the abortion rate is higher in Liberal states? Yep, it's in your link:

    Cliffs:
    Religious States: Higher Birthrate.
    Liberal States: Higher Abortion Rate.

Wow, I would have never predicted that.

"But even after accounting for the abortions, the study team still found a state's level of religiosity could predict their teen birth rate. The higher the religiosity, the higher was the teen birth rate on average."

The religious right denies contraception or sex education to their teens, thinking their good girls and boys won't have sex. Oh, please.

I think his point is that cons can't keep their legs closed, either and 'abstinence' education doesn't work for shit so we we need to educate youth on how to avoid pregnancy with contraceptives like the pill, the rods, the foam, condoms...

Did they compare pregnancy rates, or only birth rates?
