Ted Cruz: Capt. Kirk was a conservative, Picard was a lefty...another reason to like Cruz....

The women in the Star Trek universe mostly served as glorified serving wenches of the heroic male crew of the Enterprise.

You can tell by their miniskirts and revealing clothing that the uniform was modeled after the uniform worn by cocktail waitresses in Las Vegas.

The pilot had a very authoritarian woman serving as First Mate, but the network executives insisted on axing her character.

Gene Roddenberry had to fight for a multi-racial crew, in a time when everyone on TV was white, except for servants like Rochester.

The best episode of Star Trek is the one where Kirk meets an ultra-liberal woman in 1930's Earth, falls in love, and allows her to be run over by a truck to preserve the time line.

Harlan Ellison wrote that script, not the usual gang of losers who wrote the overwhelming number of bad episodes.
yea the episodes were so bad that the show had no impact on the scify world and the show just died after its run....i hear ya....
