BBC News - US Congress passes bill to impose Venezuela sanctions

So, in 2001 there were 4 OPEC countries who didn't like the US. Venezuela, Iran, Iraq and Libya.

Two were taken down with force, there was a coup d'etat helped by the US "department for the promotion of democracy" or whatever it's called, which took down a democratically elected leader in the name of democracy (go figure), and there have been heavy sanctions against Iran.
|Now oil prices are hitting lows, the US is getting worried. More expensive oil production than OPEC countries see means lower prices mean much less profits for US companies than OPEC countries. The US can't sanction Saudi Arabia and the other OPEC allies, so it's going after Venezuela.

So you're defending a socialist dictatorship that prosecutes journalists, shuts down radio and television stations for criticizing the government and can't even provide it's population with basic necessities like toilet paper?

How beautifully liberal!

Socialist dictatorship huh? How's that? It's a democratically elected govt.

Am I defending Venezuela? No. I'm attacking the US govt. Clearly.

I don't have to like a country to still have the moral sense to know it shouldn't be the US play thing.

There are plenty of countries I object to. That doesn't mean the US is sanctioning them. There are plenty which are far worse than Venezuela. Let's not hide behind any bull here. The US is NOT putting sanctions in Venezuela because it is a "socialist dictatorship" as you wrongly call it. It's doing so because Venezuela has a lot of oil and opposed the US and is part of OPEC which is putting oil prices down and hurting US oil companies who pay the US govt a lot of money.

Oh, and would you like to discuss what I wrote? Or just try and derail it?
