On a flight from Chicago to Fort Myers, Fla., Brooks Anderson realized that he wasn't just too tall to slide into the airline's small coach seat comfortably; at 6 feet, 7 inches, he was too tall to fit in it at all.

"I was in an aisle seat, and I clearly didn't fit into the seat at all," Anderson, 25, told ABC News. "I couldn't even stuff myself in there." The lanky passenger asked the crew if he could stand for the 2 1/2-hour flight, so he at least wouldn't be in physical pain.

According to ABC News, Spirit Airlines seats have slightly less room, on average, than seats on other carriers. The airline does offer seats with more leg room, but customers can expect to pay extra for them.

Anderson said he plans to take the issue up with the Federal Aviation Administration.

The seats are smaller on Spirit. But so are the prices. Should airlines offer FREE first class accomodations for people over 6' and over 300 pounds? After all, "IT'S NOT FAIR!' :eusa_eh:

Apparently the other people refused to move. It could be because he was acting like a dick. I'm not sure. My husband and sons are very tall. We always ask for the exit row or purchase the "Big Seats". According to Spirit's website:

BIG FRONT SEATTM

Enjoy more room to work and rest on your next flight.

The BIG FRONT SEAT assignment offers five (5) inches of extra legroom, no middle seat, and more comfort.

Purchase a BIG FRONT SEAT assignment when buying a ticket at spirit.com, when checking in at the airport, or at the gate.

Choose more legroom starting at $25.

The airlines claimed they offered it to him, but he didn't want to pay. Sheez.

Why should you have to pay extra to sit in a seat that fits your legs?

I just flew Spirit coast to coast and I WILL NEVER, EVER fly them again. On the way back we coughed up an extra $14 per seat to upgrade to more leg room and there was no difference at all.

I did have the pleasure of going through the naked scanner though.

Wow Ravi - you must be some hot mama. I didn't get selected for the porn shots this trip.

Spirit is a budget airline. We fly them to Florida because they fly out of AC and it's a short trip. For longer trips we usually go on bigger planes from Phila. You get what you pay for. What a simple concept that some just don't seem to grasp.

The Big Seats are way more comfortable than coach seats on other planes. I'm not sure what you are talking about.

There were no $25 seats available, so we took the $14 seats. The $25 seats did look comfy, and perhaps the very first row of $14 seats was roomier but not the rows after that.

Point being, Spirit should advertise that it is an airline for dwarves with the dimensions of a pancake...you have about three inches between your nose and the seat back in front of you and your shins are painfully pushed into the seat back as well. I will never give them money again...not to mention that once you add up all the fees and charges it is cheaper to fly on other airlines.

That's all well and good, but where can we get 8 x 10's of the pictures?

The airline should make it clear from the onset that they cater to smaller people. That way, larger folks can seek out a carrier that caters to them.

I am 6'4"...and I can feel his pain...literally.
Unless your tall - you can't imagine how crappy it is to sit for hours and be unable to move your legs because they just barely fit...barely.
Serious pain develops behind your knee and the backs of your legs - not to mention your feet falling asleep.
I have had minor thrombosis where your legs swell and blood clots form in your lower legs due to your legs having little circulation for such an extended time.

I ALWAYS ask for an exit seat.....always.
