They are normal people. People traumatised by war and conflict. People that just want to live in peace and prosper - just like everyone else.

They ARE trying to escape from IS and from the armed conflict raging in Syria. IS see them as traitors. If they don't deserve your sympathy, no one does.

Type 'Syrians' into Google and look at the pictures of bloodied children, crying parents ... and if you are not a total stone cold psychopath, you may start understanding what is going on ...

You can't even imagine the horror these people have been through. You can't even fathom. Passing such harsh unfair judgment on them is ... deplorable.

I alone decide where MY sympathy goes not you and not them. I was in Pakistan when the Shah fell so I know a bit okay? MANY if not MOST of those refugees were ALREADY in this country living peaceful and did not file for status until it fell. So they were ALREADY documented AND vetted.

Harsher judgement? No, DIFFERENT judgement for DIFFERENT people from a DIFFERENT country with a DIFFERENT history.

Grew up across the street from an Iranian. Very nice animated guy. Was young then so of course had no 'evil radar' or sense of evil but 'he seemed ok to me.'
