Alan Keyes defends Michele Bachmann with a pretty good analysis of how and why the the GOP leadership is determined to torpedo her. The how:
The why:
Mr. Keyes puts no emphasis on protecting Hillary Clinton as do I in this thread:

Keyes does touch upon Clintons every excuse for living:
The real grabber in Keyes piece is his correct evaluation of Mitt Romney expressed in these selected excerpts:
Why GOP leaders slur Bachmann, defend Obama
Exclusive: Alan Keyes calls Romney worse representative of 'elite faction' than McCain

Why GOP leaders slur Bachmann, defend Obama
First, let me point out that establishment Republicans are asking conservatives to support Romney while the GOP leadership is destroying conservative Michele Bachmann.
The Republican partys Romney-strategy is not new
The country was in a different place for Bush the Youngers two victories, but the Romney-strategy was first tried in 1996 Vote for Bob Dole or youll get four more years of Bill Clinton. and again in 2008 Vote for John McCain or youll get Obama.
Im the lesser of two evils did not work in 96 or 08 and it is in trouble this time around because nobody knows where Romney stands on anything. To be precise he stands on both sides of issues he cannot avoid talking about, while nobody knows where he stands on important issues.
Clearly, conservatives better win super majorities in both Houses because there is no indication Romney will amend Husseins executive orders. Think about that for a minute. President Romney could easily amend an EO just as Hussein amended President Reagans 1983 EO 12425 placing INTERPOL above the United States Constitution and beyond the legal reach of our own top law enforcement officials. NOTE: A quick look at Eric Holders track record should tell everyone he would work hand and glove for INTERPOL.
If you took the time to read the links pick any one of Husseins EOs and try to imagine Congress undoing the damage it does. Democrats would tie up both Houses indefinitely if conservatives tried to neuter the effects of even one EO. Ordinarily, Congress doing nothing is a good thing. The opposite is true when it comes to erasing Husseins entire record.
Even assuming Congress could send a bill to Romney that neuters an EO there is no reason to believe he would sign it. Logically, Romney would not sign a bill that accomplishes what he could have accomplished by amending the EO in the first place. Ditto curtailing federal bureaucracies like the EPA. Only fools believe Romney would shut down a bureaucracy.
My point: It matters not who is president so long as Congress treats him like he is a king ruling over a nation of serfs. Private sector Americans are already in the clutches of oppressive government. A super majority in both Houses committed to fixing Husseins holocaust by overriding presidential vetoes is the only chance Americans have of reversing the march towards absolute tyranny.
. . . key members of the elitist factions leadership in the Democratic and Republican parties have embarked upon a scurrilous campaign of personal destruction aimed at discrediting Bachmanns demand.
The why:
If successful, the campaign could bring about Bachmanns defeat in the upcoming election, thus purging her from the GOP delegation.
Mr. Keyes puts no emphasis on protecting Hillary Clinton as do I in this thread:

Keyes does touch upon Clintons every excuse for living:
In the 2008 election, John McCain proved to be a pliable tool of the socialist elites ongoing agenda for the destruction of the liberty and constitutional sovereignty of the American people.
The real grabber in Keyes piece is his correct evaluation of Mitt Romney expressed in these selected excerpts:
During the GOPs blatantly rigged 2012 primary season, Rep. Michele Bachmann, R-Minn., distinguished herself as a sincere spokeswoman for the conservative grass-roots constituency the nomination of Mitt Romney will emphatically betray.
Mitt Romney is a standard bearer even more convincingly consistent with the elitists now characteristic pattern of betrayal than was John McCain.
Either way, with Romney as the GOP nominee, the elite factions agenda for destroying the constitutional sovereignty and liberty of the American people moves ahead.

INTERPOL working with Nazi Germany says it all about Hussein when you remember his call for an armed civilian force equal to the US military (the Ready Reserve Corps is actually in Hillarycare II):
Interpol insisted it went out of business during the Second World War, and repeatedly told Congress this. But, evidence showing the exact opposite was later provided! Also, a June 1940 Interpol document openly says that the Prague Butcher, Reinhard Heydrich, ran Interpol during the war. He is the one who masterminded the final solution. He was appointed to head Interpol a few months after Interpols 1939 Convention in Berlin, by the SS and chief of the German police, Heinrich Himmler. As head of Interpol, he engineered details of the final solution, with Interpol heads and leading Nazis, including Adolph Eichmann
