Sudan government has notified US and France through their ambassadors in Khartoum it would pursue all avenues leading to peace, while at the same time it would check down security violations, an undertaking it said it should meet.

The official in charge of the Darfur peace follow-up office, Dr. Amin Hassan Omar who met separately with the US charge de'affaires and France ambassador accredited to Khartoum, discussed with them efforts rendered by the Sudanese government and parties concerned with peace in Darfur, in addition to others by the American envoy to bring armed groups on board the peace process.

Omar further stated that the government announcement to establish a national council for peace targets the involvement of all parties including armed groups to unify visions on reaching a peace agreement. He added that he has told the American envoy that the government would continue its quest for peace, while it would check down security violators.

Meanwhile, Omar reportedly briefed the French ambassador on the progress of peace process in Sudan, particularly in Darfur, together with the role played by the international force (UNAMID). He called on France to continue its support to the Doha peace agreement.

For his part, the American charge de'affaires in a press statement expressed his country's regret over the recent tribal violence in Darfur, promising his government support to all parties seeking to bring peace to the region. "We urge rebel movements to express their views on how to realize peace, and at the same time we call on Sudan government to take these views into consideration in order to achieve joint solutions," he said.
