You miss the point that nuclear war must be avoided, and your suggestions only dwell on that being a solution.

Start the discussion with the understanding that if it's going to be war then it has to be conventional war, with all the great military powers having nukes in their pockets as precautions only.

The situation has developed in which it's becoming more likely that any gains made by the big three, are going to be economic gains and crippling of the foe's economy.

With that understanding, we can then weigh America's chances of success with more accuracy.
