World s First Solar Road Is Generating Even More Power Than Expected

This is an interesting interesting adventure in solar energy, a 70 meter bike land which generates enough energy to power a resident for a full year.

Solar roads are an awful idea, bordering on a scam. If glass was suitable for building roads, we'd already build glass roads. However, glass stinks as a roadbuidling material. It fractures and breaks very easily, and it give zero traction in wet weather. Putting solar panels on the ground is dumb. Not angling them towards the sun drops their efficiency big time, and they get shaded much more often. There's a reason they only tried it with a short segment of a bike path.

If you want solar roads, put the panels above the road. Like this parking lot. It's a fraction of the cost of solar roads, and avoids all the problems of them.
