Should we have MORE socialism applied to our nation or less?

Example:

In light of the recent economic woes, it seems the more regulated economies are doing better, and have less issues...

If by socialism you mean bread lines then those are probably in some of our futures.

If by socialism you mean laying bad paper on the American people to bail out billionaires, then I'll pass, thank you.

I am not sure I had a rigid definition in mind.. perhaps I meant more democratic control over the economy (in this case).

Less whims of the free market, and more VISIBLE hand of the government.

As for two examples, we could use Canada and the US?

you mean countries like England, Germany those socialistic countries are doing great, bailing out their banks as well.

Hmm... how socialist is England? I know there a few socialist northern Euro countries up there that have high tax, high literacy, low crime, more regulation, etc. and I haven't heard much about their crises yet, though I don't read the Norwegian Post...

I guess my question was if people here think MORE regulation is better or worse?

depends on who you are asking

the left wing loons want the government to control evertyhing

true conservtives want government out of our lives but for main neccesities

Loons? You just said that the COnservatives would want the gov intervening in important stuff, no?

If something is bad, why not keep it FAR WAY from important things?

errrr. neo-liberalism is a bad call. We should all know this. 'Important stuff' to me is healthcare, education, food, energy, housing, and transportation to some degree. These programs should not be sold out by the government, especially to the lowest bidders. This is, however, exactly what our governments do, and they get what they pay for. We get what they pay for. im no left-wing nut, and i understand Canada cannot have a socialist government. But yes, i do believe that government has to strip power from the corporations that rule these necessities, and they have to be more accountable to who they hand that power over to.
