Socialism Big Mac $4.47, Capitalism Big Mac $4.62. $16 HR vs. $7.25 HR

Australia has different tiers of minimum wage. According to the Atlantic, McDonald's in Australia utilizes younger workers who can be legally paid less than the adult minimum wage.

That being said, it's unlikely that raising the minimum wage would cause a 1:1 price increase in burgers here. For one, labor is only one part of a restaurant's total cost. For another, the demand for burgers just isn't so high that such a price increase could be supported...

So $16 an hour is, "According to the Atlantic, McDonald's in Australia utilizes younger workers who can be legally paid less than the adult minimum wage."

I think many Americans will wish they were "young workers" in Australia after reading that.

Raising the Minimum wage here will always result in the Corporate heads raising prices to ensure their over elaborate lifestyle will not change. Millions of workers could live better if they just live a bit more modest, yet still super rich.
Not everyone makes the same minimum wage

Things Affecting How Much You're Paid
Things that affect how much you get paid include:

  • Your industry
  • Your age
  • If you are a trainee or apprentice
  • Whether the job is full time, part-time, permanent or casual
  • How much other people get paid to do the same job
  • Your level of seniority, experience, qualifications, responsibilities and what you do
  • The job market - e.g. the number of qualified people looking for the job
  • Government awards, agreements or industrial laws relevant to the job
Makes sense that various minimum wages should be set.
Sound very much like regulation...
It is regulation And it sucks. What's hard to understand about that?

You see I don't see all regulation as bad...

I like knowing the fuel in my car is up to a standard and won't be slowly wreaking my car.
I like to know the water I drink is safe.
I like that the building I am in has met a building standard.
The lights of a car is up to a certain quality.
The air I breath is not full of Mercury.

Now don't feel that regulations are important and minimum wages should be abolished...
Well I remember everyone saying about that people against guns should have a lawn sign to help thiefs...

Well here is my suggestion to you:
Get a T-Shirt and Print on it.
'I am against Minimum Wages and McDonalds should pay Staff what they think because it's too much regulation'
Then put it on and go down to your local McDonalds and order a Big Mac.
Note that guy going to toilet holding something. Thats your burger!

True? False? Substance?

I know America's big talk has been that prices MUST go up if the workers get paid more. I also know this is ignorance.

Can't wait for people to call me a Socialist because I'm making a Crony Capitalism point, and again, if you prove the point wrong, I'll say THANK YOU. I love information.

Adjusted and normalized, in wage in European socialist countries like Sweden and Norway are in the low 20s/hour.

No reason US companies can't pay such wages to US workers without the end of the business world as claimed.

That's only because the transportation cost of getting the kangaroo meat to the US is higher.

Like I said.....

A big mac costs $3.99 - not $4.62

When you start with a lie, it's pretty hard to take the topic seriously.

Have fun.

well, a big mac doesn't cost $4.62. - it cost $3.99

Labor is approx 18-20% of cost for McD's franchises.

Labor is generally the biggest cost to a business. Are you stating that Lobbying efforts cost more than labor or do you have any substance here? :)

I know my corporation spend a TON in Lobbying. But they get paid more in return. Politics 101.

According to this article......That McDonald s Salary Study Gets It Wrong - Restaurant Industry Insight News and Analysis - July 2013

McD's franchises spend about 20% on labor....

Oh..........you didn't read the title.........a new low for title reading Republicans.

The OP had nothing to do with % of pay. I knew before reading a title such as "Patriot Act" or "Right to Farm" or "Right to work" or "Operation Iranian Freedom" was hard for some who couldn't read past a title, but the information here is in the title and inside a small minded MEME................

Regression.

..

...okay...I'm exaggerating. I've read too many of your other posts.

If you want to waste your money on this sort of crap, go with the Big King at BK. It's a fake Big Mac, tastes better and sells for 2 for 5 bucks.

You are an idiot. Do you by any chance work at Noodles?

$1.00 USD = $1.19 AUD.

So a $16.00 AUD minimum wage is equal to $13.41 USD. A $4.95 AUD Big Mac is $4.15 USD. A $3.99 USD Big Mac is $4.76 AUD.

So, after you do the conversion, an Australian Big Mac costs 21 cents more than an American Big Mac.

OP FAIL.

well, a big mac doesn't cost $4.62. - it cost $3.99

Labor is approx 18-20% of cost for McD's franchises.

So a 100% increase in wages would represent a 20% increase in total costs. Therefore an 80 cent increase in the cost of a 4.00 Big Mac would be enough to cover the increased cost of bringing a Big Mac to market,

at double the current wages at MacD's.
