Many have shunned Social Democracy. I know my history, and modern social democracy and fascism are polar opposites.
Learn more history kiddo.
EDIT: And a question...
Just what is it about Social Democracy that appeals to you?
are you saying modern social democracy is like fascism? Take in account that in most social democratic country, Norway has a maximum prison sentence of 21 years, no death penalty, the police do not normally carry guns, is one of the most peaceful countries on earth, ranks high on the democracy index, and has one of the highest if not the highest standard of living. Are any of those things fascist?
I know there are corruptions and exceptions in any form of government, but fascism is defiantly on the far-right on social issues.
As far as what appeals to me about social democracy is the equality in stuff like health care and education. Not to mention it promotes economic democracy as well, instead of economic dictatorship. Mixed economies are the way to go, supporters of true free markets, don't realize that that Capitalism spawned Socialism. If workers were not treated like dirt then they wouldn't have formed unions, if governments had cared about their people they wouldn't have rebelled, and if companies cared more about their customers than their profits they wouldn't have to be regulated.
Number two, despite what some say trade unions are not by definition socialist, they are conglomerates composed of workers whos business it is to bargain on their behalf.
Number three, other than the Civil War when did citizens of this country rebel against their government?
Number four, most companies understand the simple concept of keeping the customer happy and the negative results they face if they don't do this.
Only monopolistic entities seem to be uncaring and eventually will be broken up when their customers have had enough and those customers' elected representatives are pressured to act.

Historically, they were full of communists.
The WobbliesNumber three, other than the Civil War when did citizens of this country rebel against their government?
First there was the War for Independence. There was also the Bacon Rebellion and another of other skirmishes throughout American history.
Also, he never said he was only referring to events within what is now the USA.

That's why we had to make lead illegal to try to get rid of it?

ah... legislation... regulation... so much for the magical free market...
Limited legislation and regulation has never been a bad thing
and I guess you weren't around back when most companies had realized the dangers of lead and had or were in the process of eliminating it.
Only a few hold outs that were indeed putting profits ahead of safety were the cause of lead elimination in products by the government.
I was only addressing the one major event in relation to revolt that affected the entire country and yes I know he didn't specifically mean the US but hey, that's where I am.....

Right... that's why they import it whenever they can.Only a few hold outs that were indeed putting profits ahead of safety were the cause of lead elimination in products by the government.

Social Democrats, Democratic Socialists, Communists, and some Classical Liberals see themselves as members of the human race and see the need to improve the human condition for everyone, not just those with the same colour skin or born on the same side of some imaginary line in the sand. Most socialists and all humanists reject such nationalist concepts, although the extent to which they would do away with nation-states and the distinction between separate societies varies..

Why they import it? You need a much expanded education concerning this issue before you start throwing blame around.

You deny that lead and other toxic substances have a way of ending up in goods imported from China, where there are no meaningful regulations enforced?
Many have shunned Social Democracy. I know my history, and modern social democracy and fascism are polar opposites. You know that the 6th Congress of the Comintern declared Social Democracy and Fascism to be twin sisters, puppets of the corporate/capitalist machine therefore enemies of the Communist ideal.
Just a little bit of history.

Of course not. Maybe I misunderstood but it appeared you were blaming our corporations for Chinas' bull shit. Our Corps, who after discovering Chinese manufacturers were not abiding by the trade rules started testing on delivered products and if lead was found did recalls or started testing before the shit hit the shelves.

many of the manufacturers in china a part of the same corporations you're crediting with protecting us
then, too, the pollution in china today is not unlike the pollution in the US back when conservatives told us people would 'vote with their wallets' for cleaner companies if we let the market sort it out
Really? I smell cowardice and bullshit.
I'm 22 from SC. Nice to meet you all
