Currently within the trucking industry, they are applying new technologies inside the trucks where camera's are being used to record audio and video of the drivers. The problem with it all, is that there is an assumption that those in charge of monitoring these systems will do so without bias. Well if anything was learned during the Obama administration on how to weaponize Intel systems, the IRS, the FBI etc. and to do it for political purposes, and to then use data collected in an attempt to destroy people in the future for what ever purposes that might be thought of, should have the citizens screaming to the tops of their lungs "HELL NO".

Now camera's looking outward of the cab with no audio present should suffice in determining guilt or innocence in the case of a crash. If a driver crashes and the assumption is that he or she may have been doing something in the cab that are against the rules of the company, then the company should have the right to resign the driver from his or her duties without repercussions.

Now if a driver worries that a company might excersize such a right against them, then they are welcome to purchase a camera that he or she could mount in the cab in order to protect from any accusations that they may have done something to cause the crash after the outward looking camera's data is recovered. This way the driver has complete control over any private conversations that may have taken place over the CB radio with other drivers during the course of a day.

The allowing of drivers to be voice recorded, and then those recordings are being reviewed by company dispatchers or other official's who might become retaliatory with such information if we're discussing pay, working conditions, forced dispatch, benefits and the lack there of, maintenance of the vehicles in question etc should be totally unexceptable under the 4th amendment rights in the protection of the citizens.

The ability to weaponize these systems should cause great pause by this country in the allowances of how much rights to those put in charge these day's above us should have or not have over us.

The lawsuits should get ready to fly, and the lawyers should be gearing up to defend the citizens rights in these United States of America.

Both of my vehicles have dash cams that record voices as well as the view from the windshield. They are there for insurance reasons, as well as recording what I see. And also, as seen from the dashcams of the Russians that recorded the meteor that blew up over that Russian town, there is the potential of recording a major event that would not give you the time to raise a camera.
