Yes. With their salary cut in half. No health insurance or retirement program.
That way you get someone who actually wants to accomplish something instead of being a whore for Corporate Americastein.
Do the same with the mayors of all major cities etc etc etc.

Term limits go against everything a Democracy stands for. People deserve the leaders they vote in. Whether that means voting in someone for a first term or fifth term.

Without terms it is possible for tyrants to reign. the whole idea behind our government is so one person doesnt have to much power and stays in power for to long. if that senator hits his or hers maxium, then they can run as a congressman.

I disagree. In a Republic like ours, the people elect representatives that come from the general populace. Ben Franklin was a printer, Benjamin Rush was a Doctor, Jefferson was a Farmer, etc... Our representatives had other jobs outside of politics. We were never supposed to have permanent "career" politicians that spend their entire working lives in Congress. It is one of the reasons we have seen the exponential growth of government on every level; local, state, and federal. Term limits would be a good first step.

Term limits effectively mean that people can't be trusted to make decisions for themselves. If you think people have been in office too long, then do something about it - get them voted out.

there are some senators that arent opposed cause anyone that tries to run against them they will lose. some long seated senators doesnt mean the people like them, just means their rubbing the right elbows. look at illinios and alabama.

We aren't a Democracy. Democracy is mob rule. We are a Constitutional Republic. :) I agree your intended point though.

It is amazing how so many people want the federal government to have more power over them, by dictating who they can and can't vote for.
