Senate panel votes to repeal "Don't ask....Don't tell"

panel votes to end 'don't ask, don't tell'

That's great, next question when is the Obama-Pelosi-Reid train wreck going to repeal their own 'don't ask, don't tell' policy .... for example

"What's going on with the Health Care "reform" negotiations?" answer "Don't ask 'cause we won't tell" ....

"When are you going to enforce federal immigration laws?" answer "Don't ask 'cause we won't tell" ...

"Did the White House offer Joe Sestak a job in the Administration for dropping out the Democratic Primary in Penn?" answer "Don't ask 'cause we won't tell"

"When are you going to give the Governor of LA what he's asking for to stop the BP oil spill from destroying the LA coast?" answer "Don't ask 'cause we won't tell"

.... Transparency at it's finest....

You don't see how it can be contradictory to fighting for justice and freedom for a soldier to be "at fault" not for their military service, but merely for being honest about who you they are?

You fight for the military you follow orders.

If you aren't willing to follow orders, you shouldn't be there.

Every one of them had a choice, and they picked politics over service.

The idea that they have somehow been forbidden to be in the military is nothing but a political stunt. Stop blaming others and accept that people need to accept the consequences of their choices.

Straight soldiers can freely talk about their sexuality.

Gay soldiers can't.

The consequences only exist for the gay soldier.

Yep...methinks that if the exact same criteria of having to keep quiet about their personal/social life was put on heterosexual soldiers and sailors, we'd hear the yelling within minutes.

WASHINGTON (AP) — A Senate committee on Thursday took a first step toward ending the U.S. policy that allows gays to serve in the military only if they don't disclose their sexual orientation.
In a 16-12 vote, the Senate Armed Services Committee approved a provision to repeal the 1993 "don't ask, don't tell" policy.

Sen. Susan Collins, the only Republican to vote for the amendment to a defense spending bill, said it passed after "vigorous and aggressive debate."

Independent Sen. Joe Lieberman, who promoted the measure with Armed Services Chairman Carl Levin, a Democrat, said: "It's time for this policy to go. It doesn't reflect America's best values of equal opportunity, and it's not good for the military."

Repealing the 1993 law, a priority of gay rights groups that President Barack Obama has pledged to pursue, still faces a tough road.

The full House is expected to take up the identical amendment late Thursday and opposition is fierce, particularly among Republicans who cited letters from military service chiefs urging Congress to hold off on the legislation until the Pentagon completes a study of the impact on military life and readiness.

The measure could face a filibuster when it reaches the Senate floor.

The GOP is once again on the wrong side of history.
....Even while the "moralist" NUT-jobs attempt a (Texas-style) re-write!!!!

I guess now the faggits can be fags out in the open and hit on other men.
That's the way it happens, huh?

Don't you folks have ANY self-control?????

The GOP is once again on the wrong side of history

i see....so...the democratic senate and house majority were on the RIGHT SIDE OF HISTORY in 1993 when they passed the don't ask dont' tell?

Hey....they managed to skunk the HOMOPHOBES!!!!!!

One-step-at-a-TIME!!!!

:clap2:

The House is voting now on Don't Ask Don't Tell.

It won't take effect, if they vote to repeal it, until after the Pentagon's study is completed in several months. But finally! We could actually see equal rights for all in the military. Amazing how America still has groups of people who it's legal to discriminate against in 2010.

History is being made at this very moment. We hope.

The vote's coming up in about 10 minutes.

As much as you dislike "don't ask...don't tell" it was a necessary first step for the military. We couldn't have gotten this far without it.

bullshit...if dems had a spine back then, we could have been rid of it then....

the dems are at fault for this, stop being a hack and blaming the gop

Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight......much like all o' those GOPers who're (all-of-a-sudden) critical of Lil' Dumbya's spending.....those same people ALWAYS wanted Gays in the military!!!

(Do ya' think there's enough time to get that rewrite done, in the new Texas History-books??????)

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.....so, they're expected to be psychic, as well....and, have enough sense to run-away, before someone asks them if they're Gay, huh?

I'm thinkin' they expect most-adults to take the initiative to find-out, on-their-own.....rather-than being spoon-fed, like some child.
