Senate Democrats in 1960 pass resolution against election-year Supreme Court recess appointments

Flashback: Senate Democrats in 1960 pass resolution against election-year Supreme Court recess appointments

So I guess Dems cant go and say we have to appoint a new judge they made the rules they need to live by them

From your link:

Not surprisingly, the Republicans objected, insisting that the Court should have a full complement of Justices at all times. Of course, the partisan arguments will be exactly the opposite this time.

Will they argue the same this go-round?

And funny that you should bring this up....Republicans certainly didn't object back in 1988.

Yes, President Obama Can Still Nominate a Supreme Court Justice

"On Feb. 3, 1988, McConnell and literally every other GOP senator voted to confirm Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy. This was during President Ronald Reagan's last year in the White House, and at a time when Democrats controlled the Senate. Kennedy was confirmed 97-0, with three Democrats -- Joe Biden, Al Gore and Paul Simon -- not voting at all because, presumably, they were busy running for president that year."

Obama will make a pick and the Republicans will give his pick an up or down vote. If Obama happens to pick a "moderate" they damn well better confirm him otherwise it might backfire on them. His second pick to a total extremist loon.

Why do you keep leaving out the part about them voting down his first pick?

Because they voted, AKA, did their goddamned constitutionally-mandated job, which they are now refusing to do.

They say they won't do it, but when doesn't the GOP cave?
