Having stated this fact, what difference does it make to anyone??? Under our system of government, with the electoral college in place, and rural votes in the college counting more than urban and city votes, it has not been unusual for the loser of the popular vote to win the election. It has happened quite a few times in history. However, this is the largest margin ever. Under our system of government, with the electoral college in place, and rural votes in the college counting more than urban and city votes, it has not been unusual for the loser of the popular vote to win the election. It has happened quite a few times in history. However, this is the largest margin ever.
