Russia has approved an incentive programme to kick-start renewables development in the country, targeting almost 6GW of new capacity by 2020, including its first solar parks.


Moscow signed a decree that includes measures to support wind, PV and small hydropower projects across the country, according to the Energy Ministry.

A new law would make about 85bn roubles ($2.7bn) available to support the deployment of renewables, with power-purchase agreements to be awarded via a series of tenders.

The measures are intended to increase the proportion of renewables from the current 0.8% to 2.5% of power generation by 2020, the ministry says.
