Russia criticizes UK on human rights after pressure on Guardian

What would Russia do if they had their own "Snowden"?

He/she would be removed and never be seen or heard from again.

Exactly.

Are there still Jews and others in their salt mines gulags?

The Gulag was the Soviet Union government agency that administered the main Soviet forced labor camp systems during the Stalin era, from the 1930s through the 1950s. This is 2013. Stalin is long gone and even the Soviet Union does not exist anymore. I find your incessant inclination to use someone's past atrocities to justify your present atrocities disturbing.

The Gulag did not disappear when Stalin died in 1953 but continued into the 1970s.

^ You are wrong but let us assume you were right. Having said that, the Soviet Union was not exactly what we could call the beacon of hope for humanity. So anyone using the Soviet Union as the role model for human rights in their country has to be insane. The human rights violations in the UK has to be judged on their own merits without bringing actions of other countries as excuse.
