Ron Paul: Why Obama Is Wrong On Libya...

Always a voice of reason. Not many of them in our Government. Thanks Dr. Paul. :clap2::clap2:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LkAxjsufiWI

Paul has always been consistent in his opinion that we should not be involved in any other countries internal matters. He called Bush out on the invasion of Iraq, and he is calling out Obama for his illegal acts of war against Libya. I do not agree with his views all the time, but I respect him for his consistency to his views.

Yea i really do respect the man. He really does piss off the Socialists/Progressives & Neocons big time. Unfortunately he has a lot of enemies in both parties. But i will always pay attention when he speaks. I don't say that about any other politicians.

Why would he piss off socialists? He wants to obey the constitution, end wars, support the general welfare of the people, not the corporations, so???:eusa_angel:

Most if not all Socialists/Progressives are Democrats. They have supported aggressive Foreign Interventionism for many decades. So have the Neocons in the Republican Party. It's something they both truly agree on for the most part. It's time to end our stupid World's Policeman/Referee Foreign Policy. I just don't care that the UN wants us to bomb & kill. Our Constitution takes precedent over anything they want or demand. Just take it to Congress and debate declaring War on Libya. That's the way it should always be. Period, end of story.

Well.......which way do you want the president to play this?

You conservatives seem to be playing both sides of the fence.

Do you want Obama to declare war on Libya?
Or ....Do you want him to wait and see how it plays out?

Or do you just want to say...whichever path Obama chooses, I am against it

Personally I would like him to do one or the other. he is trying to have his cake and eat it to, and that annoys me. By not going to Congress he is, again, saying that he, as President, does not answer to anyone but himself. I personally find it intereresting that you are willing to call Bush and Cheney out for thinking like this, yet willing to allow Obama to slide on it.

Then he works behind the scene to find a rationalization that others will accept for him getting what he wants. Does anyone really believe that the UN is going to protect civilians from their own governments? When did this policy start? How far does it extend?

If I was a paranoid conspiracy nut case I would think that Obama is using this a a pretext for his next job. We have a man who is so full of himself that, even though no one knew who he was, he wrote two autobiographies before he was 40 years old. He did this not because he actually accomplished something, like running a successful business, or getting a law that he fought hard for passed, or even accomplishing great things as a community organizer that inspired people to emulate him. What could a man like that after he has held the office of President of the United States of America?

What could a man that actually believes that the world revolves around him do after that? President of the world?

Lucky for me, and you, I do not think like that.

Bah...in matters like this you need a decisive leader who will make decisions.
Not a group of lawyers and socialites debating ad nauseum on whether it is an ect of war or not.
1000's of Libyans have been killed by their own government while guys like this want to talk and talk and talk.

What decision do you want?

You want to bring us into a third war?

Do you not watch the news? We are in a third war, we attacked Libya. The fact that Obama did this without consulting Congress should concern everyone, and it certainly concerns at least some liberal Democrats in Congress who think he should come to them and ask for authorization. The fact that you are only blaming conservatives shows just how partisan you are.

Kucinch, God bless his crazy moon bat heart, is even talking about impeachable offenses.

A hard-core group of liberal House Democrats is questioning the constitutionality of U.S. missile strikes against Libya, with one lawmaker raising the prospect of impeachment during a Democratic Caucus conference call on Saturday.
Reps. Jerrold Nadler (N.Y.), Donna Edwards (Md.), Mike Capuano (Mass.), Dennis Kucinich (Ohio), Maxine Waters (Calif.), Rob Andrews (N.J.), Sheila Jackson Lee (Texas), Barbara Lee (Calif.) and Del. Eleanor Holmes Norton (D.C.) “all strongly raised objections to the constitutionality of the president’s actions” during that call, said two Democratic lawmakers who took part.
Kucinich, who wanted to bring impeachment articles against both former President George W. Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney over Iraq — only to be blocked by his own leadership — asked why the U.S. missile strikes aren’t impeachable offenses.
Kucinich also questioned why Democratic leaders didn’t object when President Barack Obama told them of his plan for American participation in enforcing the Libyan no-fly zone during a White House Situation Room meeting on Friday, sources told POLITICO.

Here's a live blog that's posting any updates on military action.

Military action begins against Libya - live updates | World news | guardian.co.uk

5.05pm: A French fighter jet has fired on a Libyan military vehicle in the first reported strike in the international campaign to enforce a no-fly zone, AP reports.

French defence ministry spokesman Thierry Burkhard said the strike was reported around 1645 GMT Saturday. Burkhard says the target was confirmed as a military vehicle, but it was not clear what kind.

5.02pm: US secretary of state, Hillary Clinton, has said that while the US will not deploy ground troops in Libya "there should be no mistaking our commitment to this effort".

...

4.15pm: Here's a summary of events this afternoon

• Military action has begun against Libya, with French jets seen in the skies over Benghazi. Six Danish F-16s have arrived at the US air base at Sigonella, Sicily on Saturday and will be ready for operation Sunday. Canada has committed six CF-18 jets, and Canadian aircraft landed at the Prestwick Airport south-west of Glasgow, Scotland to refuel.
It seems like Europe is taking the brunt of this operation. I don't even know what you chimps are whining about Obama for.

How is flying a few planes over Libya after we blasted all of the anti air radar, missiles, and guns, taking the brunt of it? Or did you miss the news that the US fired at least 100 cruise missiles into Libya? At $1.4 million dollars a pop you just spent $140 million on Libya. We also have a carrier in the Med, which gives us more air power and flexibility to respond to a problem.

That means that, despite everyone telling me that France is in the lead in this, I know we have more military muscle in the area than France, and everyone else that is helping them, combined.

End of story is we have no constitutional right to declare war against anybody at the moment.

You must have been very nervous for about 66 years, because congress hasn't declared a war since WW2.

Nice try. I, unlike you, understand that Congress is not trying to declare war, they just want the President to consult them before taking military action like we are in Libya. Bush did it, why can't Obama?

LOL.... I mean we have one of the biggest Troll Fanbois for Obama (Rightwinger) pretending Obama is doing this war for the "conservatives! Fu me, LOL!!!

"What do you guys (conservatives) what Obama to do?" ****** LOL***** Obama should try and please his owe base

How about doing what is best for the country?

Simple question....what direction do you want him to take?

Always a voice of reason. Not many of them in our Government.
Well......let's see what more-experienced politicos say:

"An escalation in Libya as a new UN resolution lays the groundwork for military strikes by allowing the international community “to take all necessary measures” to protect civilians. With the strikes underway, should the president have sought congressional approval? And with the U.S. already involved in two wars in two different countries, what does military action in a third country mean? We’ll talk to the top foreign policy voices on Capitol Hill: two members of the Senate Armed Services Committee, Chairman Sen. Carl Levin (D-MI) and Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL) as well as the chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee, Sen. John F. Kerry (D-MA)."

Hillary Clinton & Joe Biden were big supporters of the Iraq War. They pushed this President into this. I'm not surprised this happened.

"NO WAR FOR OIL!!"...Where did all those people go? Do they really think bombing Libya isn't about Oil? Hmm?

Speaking of which... where's that boatload of Iraqi oil we were fighting for? I mean look at gas prices. Why aren't they at 89 cents a gallon because we're 'stealing all their oil'... remember?

Well bombing Libya has nothing to do with Oil. Yup and i got a bridge for sale too. :eusa_liar:

Also,DA BOOOOOOSH at least went to Congress for some kind of authorization. The Left/Democrat spin on these bombings has been pretty weak.

Holy Shite! I swear i just saw a loony Leftist/Democrat on TV claiming Gaddafi had to be bombed because he's much worse than Saddam Hussein. Say Whaaa?? If he was so much worse, why didn't they at least go to Congress for some kind of authorization? Yea nice spin there Democrats. I'm not buying it but nice try anyway.

The Repub, or Dem establishment for that matter, won't accept Paul because they're too entrenched w/ the system as it is w/ The Fed & the Mil. Indust. Complex. Too much $ and votes tied up in that. Quid pro quo.

Now, if there were some SERIOUS campaign fin. reform, that might change the story. The way it is now, the Rep's are too reliant on feeding the Pentagon/contractors for votes and not upsetting the Fed (Wall St. insiders)
