The Heart Of Darkness...The Horror
Echoing outrage expressed on both sides of the political aisle in the wake of revelations that American International Group will pay roughly $165 million in bonuses, Frank said he believes it's time to shake up the company.

"These people may have a right to their bonuses. They don't have a right to their jobs forever," said Frank, a Massachusetts Democrat who is chairman of the House Financial Services Committee.

You know and imo...if we follow this logic to it fullest who is going to look into the actions of B.Frank? Shouldn't someone take this a step further and explore his committee oversight duties.

“The Fed has so far resisted attempts to provide information on how it is spending the bailout money and currently dictates how accountable it will be to Congress. Since its creation in 1913, the Fed’s control of money and credit in this country has resulted in a 95% devaluation of our dollar and the piling up, just in the last year, of almost $10 trillion in bailouts and loans.”

You can read the whole bill in less than five minutes! Unlike the stimulus and omnibus, this one is short and doesn’t include any pork!

Frank: AIG is 'rewarding incompetence'

NEW YORK - The indignation over millions of dollars in bonus payments for American International Group Inc. executives grew Monday when a top lawmaker said he believes it's time to shake up the company.

....

The money was payable to executives by Sunday and was part of a larger total payout reportedly valued at $450 million. The company has benefited from more than $170 billion in a federal rescue. AIG has argued that it was contractually obligated to pay the bonuses.

the whole bailout is rewarding failure....why should the companies being bailed out....go for sales in the private sector at 50 cents to the dollar when they can hold out for a government bail out at 75 cents a dollar? (all figures are being made up for example purposes)

i can see the government partnering with private agents to invest and buy up foreclosed homes...its an assest that can be profitable in the future....but simply handing money to failed companies???

ask yourself, who is responsible for all this easy credit..and look back...its not the current admin or the admin before it...its all of them since carter?? clinton was such a success because so many americans achieved the american dream of owning their own home...but how many could really afford it? with homeownership comes more fees....people renting bitch they are paying other peoples mortgages...
( i still advise if you are gonna stay in one place to buy over renting) but there are a lot of expenses to buying that people dont take into account...insurance, taxes, repairs can add up each month. i hear people blaming this on people buying too much house...well for many ..any house is too much house..
i hate to say that...i think we all want secure and safe places to live and to raise our families...that is becoming very hard for the working poor..

Barney Frank allowed it to happen. He needs to lose his job over this. Others who should lose their jobs:

Barack Obama
Nancy Pelosi
Harry Reid
George W. Bush (oh, yeah... he's gone)

I would add C. Dodd to your list.

Good point. These guys (and gals that could be guys in drag) need to be removed from office immediately.

you want to remove all these elected officials...perhaps the people that should be "removed" are the american voters who refuse to educate themselves on what is going on with real issues. i am sick of americans who listen to talking heads and parrot the shit like its gospel. guess what fuckers.....rush has his own agenda...it aint about you...its about him...same with carville and the talking heads on the other side....they do not give one iota how you are doing....how you family is doing....they dont care..as long as they are riding the gravy train...life is good...

which is a fine attitude for a entertainer to have...but it is not for an elected official...
so i ask you...are you part of the mothering solution or part of the problem? do you vote party lines? do you have any concept of the reality that the american taxpayer is being screwed by everyone? hell the vice president is not part of the executive branch....now there was a wtf moment ..wasnt it? o o and the current bunch.....did you not watch school house rock? how a bill becomes a law..where bill orginate...all that....why is it coming from the top down...and not the way it is suppose to be....why am i being told times are hard...which they are for people in construction..that we have to bail out these companies...and do it with a damned smile....and now suddenly "crisis over"...do i have stupid written on my forehead? why did citibank drop to 99 cents a share? and then say...o we made money?

how do we stop the stupidity? on both sides? why are we all crying out for a honest third party yet voting for the same old smarmy smucks? for those of you who thought bush could do no wrong....for those of you who believe obama is the messiah and will lead the people from the desert....i got a few words.....stop wasting oxygen

I would add:

Boehner, McConnel, Graham, Kantor and the rest of the Repubs who were in charge.

This didn't just start in 2006.

I understand the contractual obligations. It just pisses me off that we're paying for these bonuses. It is in its most basic form, theft.

Forgive me for not reading everything you typed. The American people deserve the government they elect. However, we have a large majority that is not represented by either of the two major parties. And since there is not a large 3rd party to counter the garbage, we keep getting crappy politicians.

I'm of the opinion that it's the GOP that has inadvertantly caused most of our problems. Why? You can count on the Democrats to reward failure by implementing failed socialistic policies from the past. The GOP was supposed to provide an alternative, but instead they have become hijacked by neoconservative who are really just LBJ-style big government politicians. In effect, we have two Democratic Parties in the United States. Not good.

That said, what the Democrats are doing is completely wrong and some might argue unconstitutional.

Let them file for bankruptcy instead of bailing them out. Contracts can be renegotiated when a company is in bankruptcy.....

Funny, gm and ford and chrysler didn't go in to bankruptcy and because we were bailing them out we told them to renegotiate what they paid their people, did we not?

WHY in the hell should these asses that caused the majority of the crash, get away with this....?

They've taken near 10 times the money gm took...? And they are sending the money overseas too...?

Care

somebody on twitter twittered it best... AIG holds the pensions and perks for the US Congresscritters that's why.. Fwank is putting on a show, but that's all it is show,, it's all smoke and mirrors,, the congresscritters aren't about to let the company that holds their pensions and perks go under. Think about it.
