It must be great these days to be a Democrat. They don't have to take a stand and they don't have to worry about what happens if they go back on their promises.

In 2010 it was easy to sign a tax pledge authored by Grover Norquist stating that you pledge never to raise taxes. Not signing it was like saying you just might and would assure that you won't get reelected. Signing it means you're trapped into a promise you just might not keep.

Do you see why it's so easy to be a Democrat as opposed to a Republican? Taking a stand and standing by your principles sometimes ends up biting you in the ass. Remember "Read My Lips"?

That was the mother of all broken promises.

It's amazing how something voters should hate has become a tool to bring down Republicans. The hardest thing a politician can do is have principles. Having principles means being trustworthy and that just isn't a positive aspect these days.

Well, thank you Grover.....you succeeded in painting the GOP into a corner. A corner that it looks like some of them want to get out of.

I have a solution for Republicans......stick to your guns and forget about what will happen if you do. You signed it.....live or die by it.

Obama wants to drop the whole tax-cut but he's using the rich as a ploy to force the GOP into painting themselves into a corner.

If Republicans would say out loud what Obama wants to do, raise taxes on everyone, they'd defend their positions more effectively. Also, if they demonized the media at least they wouldn't appear to be the weasels they appear to be today.

The media is the key in all of this. Illustrating the threat they pose is necessary in the fight against corruption and oppressive government.

If only they had the balls to sign a pledge not to increase spending.

Meh, they'd find a way to weasel out of that one too.

The republican model is what's dead. The nation has tipped into a majority of leeches.

Yes, by all means, stick to your guns and let the country fall off a financial cliff because you made a promise to an asshole.

Who the fuck is Grover Norquist that COngressmen should kiss his ring like Don Coreleon?

If the GOP doesn't do anything, tax increases go into effect automatically and there will be HUGE slashes in the defense budget. They aren't in a position to negotiate.

Most of us didn't even know who Grover Norquist was till you libs starting honking about him.

Fewer jobs means fewer employed which means fewer tax-payers which means less revenue.

To increase revenue the best thing we could have done is gotten rid of Obama and we couldn't even do that.

There are some radical rightists so deranged that they’ll take the military cuts just to stick it to the hated targeted social programs.

They actually fantasize about the entire economy collapsing, so they can ‘rebuild’ it in their own bizarre image.

Yup......and I'm sure somebody can sell that bullshit lie.

And yes......we wanted a business-friendly president like Romney just because we were fantasizing about forcing the economy to collapse.

FYI, the economy is already in our own image. It's the leftists that want to crash the system so they can shape it the way they want.

No, we saw it in your image in October, 2008 to about June of 2009. An image of the market tanking to half its value, an image of 750,000 jobs a month being lost. An image of a cliffhanger as we missed the Second Great Republican Depression by the skin of our teeth.

You guys crashed the economy, we are bringing it back. Far slower than any would like, but still, coming back.
