If you are a sensible Republican you are seeing your party change into something else just as sensible Democrats saw Bill Clinton turn the Democratic party into the anti-democracy corporate party it is today.

Maybe it depends on the perspective, part of the country one lives or angle one is looking from. From local aspects here it appeared they were working on purging a better part of the base that left the Democratic party because they did not want the gayism trends being pushed on them from Democrat leadership gathering trophy dollars for their campaigns.

That's a mild word for them!

The GOP is dogma driven. It's as simple as that! Their tent is much smaller than in past decades as exclusion of "minorities", and strict nationalistic litmus tests are mainline thinking. There are a hell of a lot of EX-Republicans out there because the GOP has moved so far to the right with their neoconservative dogma.
