Some pundits are wondering if the GOP will attempt to co-opt the populist message of the Democratic Party. After all, liberal initiatives that were on the ballots in the recent election, like raising the minimum wage and background checks, passed in double digits and Republican policies like "Personhood" failed miserably.
My feeling is they may try, but they will fail miserably.
The Republicans already have a brand they are thrilled to own. Which positions will they say they have versus their traditional positions on:
Food stamps for children and school lunches
Healthcare
Living wage
Education
Wage disparity
Subsidies for large corporations
Jobs moving to China
The environment
Minority relationships
Climate change
Refugee children fleeing danger
Science
Farm subsidies
Overseas wars
Supporting the veterans
Contraception
Infrastructure maintenance
