If republicans actually believed in conservative principles this would happen, but what they really differ on is who they want in charge with minor differences in policy. Which party is in charge doesn't matter because the true powers are the ones who supply them with money and favors. If it mattered we would see change without Ron Paul.

The fact that Ron Paul is ostracized by the party of limited government and fiscal conervatism is a glaring testimony to the true intentions of the republican powers that control the party. This isn't really about the rank and file republicans because if Ron Paul was the darling of Fox news and the establishment then most republicans would be all for him. They believe what they are told and follow along.

In one sense republicans are no different than democrats. Republicans want to feel the government is protecting them and democrats want to feel that the government is there to feed of them. Both of these emotions require huge amounts of spending and neither is willing to cut because there is an unspoken agreement that if one side gets cut the other will get cut, so they just spend on different things and never cut. The establishment takes these two basic human needs and uses them to garner support. These needs are so deeply ingrained that they are the very reason we formed the first tribes. The "Protecters" need conflict to maintain power and the Providers need Hunger to maintain power. When you break it down like this you can see that the protecters have a vested interest in creating conflicts when none exist. The providers have a vested interest in creating a economic disparity.

Until we can stop letting these emotions rule us we will never be free. This is why we don't just need a revolution we need an evolution.
