Republican war on Millennials looks like a suicide mission

You should spend a LOT more time worrying about the Dem Party "war on millenials".

Let's check that. Seems like overwrought rhetoric:

Poll: Two-thirds of millennials prefer Democratic control of Congress

Even young Republicans are unhappy with Donald Trump's job performance, a poll shows ..." just 25 percent of millennial respondents said they approved of Trump's job performance so far"

Harvard: Millennials now biggest voting group in U.S., 2-1 Democratic

Now, it may be true that millenials just stay home and don't vote Democrat, because they don't vote at all. But they are going to care more about the policies than they will the DNC debacle. Especially, you know, since that is in the past, and the policies' effects are in the future. Yep, that's kind of a big one.

That's ONLY their reaction to the current political realities. They WILL NOT participate in that useless tribal war under the terms of EITHER party. In my world -- we are enrolling millennials at a HUGE clip into the Libertarian Party. Which is socially MORE liberal and economically MORE conservative than the current 2 choices.

Millennials are LARGELY Libertarian. They just don't know it yet. :mm:

I can see the appeal, definitely. I tried it. Every meeting devolved into sectarian strife, it seemed. The Randians would scare off the liberals, the liberals would scare off the gun nuts, the gun nuts would scare off the pacifists, etc etc

And Trump is not a Republican. He hijacked the GOP. Just like Hillary BOUGHT the DNC in the last cycle.
That's a bit overwrought as well. For one, trump was the "independent", as was Bernie Sanders. Second, Bernie did not stand a chance of winning the primary, and he was the only thing even approaching a serious challenge to Hillary, the lifelong Democrat. Trump steamrolled the best the GOP had to offer by lying through his dentures 24/7 and appealing to people's most base urges. Now THAT is a hijacking.

It's not overwrought if your conclusion is the SAME ONE I had first. I SAID "Trump hijacked the GOP". And it's just clear as day that Hillary BOUGHT the DNC.

She didn't buy them. They came begging.

Democratic victories on election 2017 the highlights of that as I recall was they won the Governors races in Virginia and New Jersey. New Jersey was never a question given how unpopular Chrisite was the Republican put a good fight in Virginia but it would have been considered an upset if he won. Historically when one party controls the Presidency and both chambers of Congress they don't do so for long Obama and the Democrats didn't after the 2008 election given the history it won't be a shock if the Republicans lose either the House or Senate in 2018 if they do it will have more to do with the pattern of politics than any of this war on insert name here bullshit.

Libs love catering to millennials. Just saw another article on how so many of the indoctrinated youth believe in socialism, probably because they are totally ignorant of the real history. And the latest is that they suffer mentally and emotionally when they hear the term, snowflake. The truth hurts and there just aren't enough safe spaces. The left wants people to believe only in the power of government and they denounce people who believe in themselves rather than some bureaucrat.

I wonder how many snowflakes will have this on their Christmas, er, I mean their "Holiday" tree. Anyone who believes that Hillary or Bernie would help make anyone's life better is too far gone to reason with.

And Trump is not a Republican. He hijacked the GOP. Just like Hillary BOUGHT the DNC in the last cycle. If ANYTHING his REJECTION by members of GOP (never Trumpers) and populist message makes him stronger with millenials than most every OTHER Repub.

You think millenials look at the aging geezer leadership in Congress and see ANY DIFF between the incompetence and ineptitude of EITHER Brand Name party???

Can you back any of this up? Like how millennials wouldn't consider Trump a geazer? Or some real facts about how Trump is popular with them?

Good luck.

THat's what happens when you focus on accepting ALL of the 10 articles in the BofRights. If they hang out and persist -- eventually they get it. Gun ownership is NOT about "liking guns" to Libertarians. Drug reform is NOT about "liking drugs". Even Gay rights is not really about "liking the gay style"..

It's about RESTORING the critical element of freedom and liberty. Which is to ALLOW maximum personal choice on damn near anything. Even if you ABHOR the practice personally. It's called TOLERANCE. You cannot have liberty and freedom without it...

It's about RESTORING the critical element of freedom and liberty.
Yes, but that means so many very different things to people. Saying "If you stick around long enough, you'll get it" is not a strong argument for any future popularity of the Libertarian Party. In fact, it's kind of the opposite, as it implies something 'esoteric'.

"Just look at this abstract painting that looks like someone ran over 3 paint cans with a riding law mower. Just look at it long enough, you'll get it!"

Sure, some people will "get it".

Republican war on Millennials looks like a suicide mission

"The string of Democratic victories on Election Night 2017 falls well within the tradition of the party not holding the White House cleaning up in off-year elections. But what’s notable is that younger voters are generally mad AF at President Trump and ready to clap back at the ballot box — right as Millennials are prepared to eclipse Baby Boomers as America’s largest generation of eligible voters.

While Trump is already historically unpopular for a new president, his appeal to America’s closest to death is keeping his ratings afloat, according to pollster William Jordan. Among younger voters, however, the president has already sunk to the level of George W. Bush in 2008 — after W had led America into the Hurricane Katrina debacle, two failed wars and the beginning of the Great Recession.

And it was likely W’s repellence to younger voters as much as Obama’s appeal to them that helped Obama win 66% of the 18-to-29 vote in 2008 as young people flooded to the polls in numbers that hadn’t been seen since 18-year-olds got the vote in 1972.

So how is Trump’s GOP handling a hemorrhaging of young voters who are establishing voting patterns that could last the rest of their adult lives?

By trolling them out of the middle class.

How does the GOP tax plan, which has now passed the House and Senate in differing but rhyming versions, hurt young people?

Cosmopolitan’s Robin Marty counted the potential ways: higher taxes, more expensive student loans, rising insurance premiums, underfunded public schools, lower home values and a withering safety net."

You should spend a LOT more time worrying about the Dem Party "war on millenials". Recent polling says you all alienated all of them from the Dem party with the Bernie screwing, superdelegates, and other "disinfranchisement" that the DNC is famous for.

IIRC -- 70% or more of millennials WANT 3rd party and independent choices. And more open ballot access. So fix your OWN problems first if you want to save what's left of the 2 party system wreckage.
Errrr..I'm not a Dem..so I see no need to worry..especially about something that I think demographics will deal with inevitably. "Inside politics" stuff..plays well here..but out in the real world---The young see the older generation as holding them down..and they see the Republicans as the standard holders.

Either Party who demonizes the Millennials who will be a minority party.

Aged, inept politicians PANDERING to them -- aint' gonna work either..

They WANT THE TRUTH. They want to know that there is nothing of value in the SocSec TFund that can PAY current SS shortfalls. They want to see ALL misdoing in highest levels of govt punished. They want to CUT off govt/corporate collusion thru the wasteful tax subsidies that are handed out to corporations simply for producing products that they would produce anyways.

Only get there thru Indies and 3rd parties. That's why 70% refuse to take an oath to EITHER of the Brand Name parties.. Watch the 2020 election. Indies and 3rd parties WILL become a reality..

They have the power to decide elections. IT THEIR LEGACY at stake now. Don't want the Brand Name parties to muzzle all the senators and congresspeople anymore. Not really, in your last paragraph you compared Trump to the leadership of both parties in Congress. Trump will be in his mid 70s (if he makes it), he's a geazer.

Atheists generally celebrate Christmas the same way you guys do: give gifts, drink, hang with family, etc. Christmas long ago left behind Christianity, for a lot of people, Christians and atheists alike.

said only that Not BEING a Repub is a plus in the calculus that millennial use for choosing their political favorites. Not being a Dem is a similar plus.

"Similar", but not equal. As all measures show.

Not true. All our internal polling shows that new LParty folks are fairly equally split as former Repub or Dem. AND that MOST are millennials. MOST will never return to the 2 Brand Name parties.

The reason political polling SUCKS so much lately and is totally unreliable is PRIMARILY BECAUSE the pollsters continue to weight and assemble sampling by Dem/Rep split. Thus ignoring potentially 50% or MORE of the eligible voters. True fact..

We've PASSED the point where NOW -- Indies + 3rd parties are a BIGGER GROUP -- than both tired, inept, corrupt power mad parties put together.

We prefer pointy questions that everybody knows the answer to. Like -- What does the Fed Govt do well and efficiently? Or which recent Congressional Investigation of ANYTHING in their oversight has led to demotions, firings or legal proceedings.?

It's not so much about "liking Socialism" as it is having Govt focus on what they do best AND what they can manage.
