Sen. David Vitter named 'Humane Legislator of the Year' | NOLA.com

WASHINGTON -- Sen. David Vitter, R-La., and Rep. Sam Farr, D-Calif., have been named "Humane Legislators of the Year" by the Humane Society of the United States. Vitter was cited for his work to require licensing and inspecting of puppy mills and to ban interstate and foreign commerce in non-human primates for the pet trade.

Hey conservatives, where in the Constitution is the Congress given the power to regulate puppy mills?

Ths Big Government asshole is TAKING OUR COUNTRY AWAY from us!

No such power is granted in the Constitution. When the government's boot is on your throat, it makes little difference if it's the right boot or the left boot.

Yet he was elected by conservatives.

Yes...and? Did you miss the point to the left boot/right boot analogy? Let me spell it out for you: Big government sucks whether it's Rs or Ds violating the law of the land.

And just about everyone who has that attitude goes to the polls and votes for R everytime.

Bastards. Americans deserve the right to breed and kill puppies any way they please and not be penalized or regulated for it, even if it's at the (current estimated rate) of 11,000 puppies a day.

Remember - nothing on this planet is more important than money.

That's a LOCAL issue.

Where does the Constitution give Congress the power to regulate PETS?

Yet he was elected by conservatives.

Was he?

He was elected by people claiming to be conservatives.

Though it is funny that the millions of people who claim to be conservatives do not believe that the millions of people who claim to be conservatives are "true" conservatives.

This is the plight of the conservative - year after year they go to the polls, elect Republicans, and then complain about how they aren't conservative enough and claim those same Republicans weren't even elected by conservatives.

Thus the main different between Republicans and conservaties is revealed:
Republicans run for office.
Conservatives vote for Republicans running for office.

That's a LOCAL issue.

Where does the Constitution give Congress the power to regulate PETS?

Where does the Constitution prohibit Congress from being able to regulate Puppy Mills?

Have you read the 10th amendment?
The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.

Great - now you have. Now tell me where the Constittution gives the United States the power to regulat power mills.

I thought the Constitution gives Congress power to regulate things that fall into the "interstate commerce" category, right?

But I would have to agree with you that this crosses into the unconstitutionality realm for some of the other provisions and regulations (after taking a deeper look into the bill) :wink_2:.
