Looks like the Republicans will have a comfortable margin for filibuster when needed. That is quite significant.

until 2010 when the electorate kicks them out for being obstructionists.

What did the American electorate just vote for in large number?

Remember you guys said it was socialism they would get if they voted Obama and they voted for him anyway huh?

Well they wont get socialism from Obama and they will blame the constant filibustering from the right.

Then when its all dems they will blame the dems and elect socialists. See what you have done!

It's a good thing. Though one of them, I forget who, was on NPR this morning saying that they want to work with the Dems as much as possible since the people of the USA have clearly spoken against all the divisiveness. But of course, what else could they say at this point?

who is the leadership of the republican party now?

Sen. McConnell.

A lot of the commentary I heard last night was that Obama is well aware of how Clinton overreached in his first 2 years and it cost him the House in 1994.

However Obama will start in a position of much greater power than Clinton so it will be interesting to see what his first 100 days brings. Obama's hands will be somewhat tied due to the shape of the economy and the various bail out bills already passed. He has a lot political capital to spend. I hope he uses it wisely.

He is a first class intellect with a first class temperment.

Just as Bush will go down as the worst president just like I called it very early on, Obama will go down as one of the great presidents.

Who is left in the Republican House and Senate? Moderates or neo-cons or Bushies? I think a lot of the future of the GOP will depend on the make up of the current elected officials. Does anyone know? I haven't been paying them much attention lately.

I just worry about the precedent set when the Democrats filibustered Bush's arrogant re-nomination of rejected judges and the Republicans threatened the "nuclear" option. Will the Democrats threaten the nuclear option now if the Republicans filibuster something they feel strongly about?
