Regional Gang Unit reaches out to residents in high-crime neighborhood
Sep. 10, 2011
The area of Neil Road and Virbel Lane in South Reno is like many neighborhoods throughout the city.
It's filled with apartment complexes, parks, schools, restaurants and churches.
And it's where cars have recently driven by and its occupants fired gunshots at a teenage boy, wounding him; where a man walking with his family was shot in the face for trying to help a woman in distress; and where a combat veteran walking home from a bar was severely beaten simply because he was in his attackers' neighborhood

This is an area that used to be a nice place to live until about 20 years ago when Hispanics moved in and whites and blacks moved out and it became gang infested.
We don't need to spend $40,000 on a Project Safe Neighborhood grant but on a good old fashion western style round up of illegals and deporting them.
There use to be a police sub-station right smack dab in the middle and that did not make any difference. Gangs own Reno and law enforcement don't even know it.
Residents don't report gang related crime because they are afraid of retaliation and not "deportation" like Obama would like us to believe.
I will not even drive dow Neil Road in the day time and no were near it after dark.
