Peace could come to the Golan Heights. However, it should be noted that Islamist "rebels" stormed reconciled areas in Damascus in 2015 and that the peace of reconciliation is fragile.

Peace: SAA soldiers, insurgent after an reconciliation agreement in Babila, southeast Damascus 2014.

"Three months ago, Al-Masdar News reported a potential reconciliation agreement between the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and the Free Syrian Army (FSA) inside the Golan Heights of the Al-Quneitra Governorate.

On Wednesday morning, both parties agreed to meet in regards to implementing this permanent ceasefire agreement that would stop all hostilities between the villages of Jabatha Al-Khashab (rebel controlled) and Al-Hadher (government controlled).

According to a military source in the Golan Heights, officers from the Syrian Arab Army’s 90th Brigade (9th Armored Division), Liwaa Suqour Al-Quneitra (pro-government militia), Fouj Al-Joulan (pro-government militia), and the Free Syrian Army’s “Southern Front Brigades” are currently meeting to discuss the prospects of peace in the Golan Heights.

The source also added that members from Fouj Al-Joulan and the Free Syrian Army worked to setup this meeting between all sides in the Golan Heights – many of them are related or come from the same villages.

No further information was provided regarding the terms and guidelines that are currently being discussed; however, this ceasefire agreement has been a topic of discussion for quite some time.

If this reconciliation agreement is set in place; this will free up a whole division of soldiers from the Syrian Arab Army."
