• Turkey’s president, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, has triggered a new controversy by declaring women are not equal to men.

He also accused feminists of not understanding the special status that Islam attributes to mothers.

Addressing a meeting in Istanbul on women and justice, Erdoğan said men and women were created differently, that women cannot be expected to undertake the same work as men and that mothers enjoyed a high position that only they could reach.

He said: “You cannot put women and men on an equal footing. It is against nature. They were created differently. Their nature is different. Their constitution is different.”

Perhaps there are enough middle-management officers in the Army, with the courage of Ataturk, to stage a coup, and set Erdogan aside, before he completes the process of dragging Turkey back into the Middle Ages and turning it into an Islamist shit-hole...

Rather than allowing that traitor, Erdogan, to destroy the shining modern democracy, devoted to egalitarianism and secular justice, that it has been for much of the past 80-90 years since the last of the degenerate Ottomans was forced to relinquish the old imperial crown.

For many years, the Turkish Army stood as the Guardian of the Nation, in the tradition of Ataturk, intervening on occasion, when things got out of hand with proto-Islamists of their times...

Now that Erdogan has purged the upper echelons of the Army of those devoted to the ideals of Ataturk...

It will fall to similar sentiments amongst the far larger audience of middle-management (middle-ranks) in the Officer Corps of the Turkish Army, in order to save the Nation, if, indeed, they decide that the time has come, once again, to intervene in such a fashion...

If the Guardian of the Nation is to act in time to save Turkey, it should probably begin to do so, sometime soon.
