Do we have more crime per capita today, than we had 20 years ago? 30 years ago? 50 years ago? Or, do we have less? Do we have more crime per capita today, than we had when our total U.S. population was two hundred million citizens? Three hundred million citizens?

Is our perspective of crime distorted by population growth, and not considering the ratio per capita?

We have more mass shootings today. That is documented by the FBI.

That does not represent total crime. And, it certainly does not show a ratio between the number of crimes and population growth for a given period.

What exactly does that have to do with the thread? That certainly doesn't show a ratio of crime to population. That information is for another thread and another discussion. I appreciate you posting it, but what exactly are you saying? We all read the news and know that more nuts are going postal now days.

I believe it is distorted by national media access 24/7 through technology vs 20 odd years ago we only heard the worst of the worst on 60 minutes, etc.

You asked if our perception was distorted.

In this instance it clearly shows an increase.

As far as the rest goes you can do your own research.
