MSNBC, particularly Maddow is beating FOX in the ratings and is now the most viewed cable news network. Between MSNBC and CNN, the majority of cable news viewers are tuning into the broadcasters that investigate and report Russiagate and the trump corruption news. FOX is left with the old FOX base and prefer listening to non-news about the previous President and the candidate that lost the election. They follow the trump talking points like obedient servants and the public isn't falling for it or interested in old conspiracy theories and whining about stuff from years ago that have nothing to do with the present other than to deflect attention away from the trump scandals.

It's no surprise that MSDNC is doing so well.
Their reputation as catering to the left is no accident, and with the country as divided as it is now and with the fact that Trump is so hated, it stands to reason that they would finally see a big spike in viewership.
