We are talking about the operation "Atlantic Resolve III" - an "Atlantic Resolve" much to the delight of the people of the East of the European Union (EU), partly with discomfort observed in Germany.
The goal of the gigantic maneuver: to secure the eastern flank of the Western defensive alliance from Russia in the long term.
"The United States is demonstrating to NATO and the world its continued commitment to peace, security and stability in Europe," writes the US Department of Defense.
The special feature: "Atlantic Resolve" is not a NATO operation, but the United States, especially with the six states - Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania and Bulgaria - on the eastern border of the EU through.
On 20 May, three ships carrying 3500 US soldiers and equipment arrived at the port of Antwerp (Belgium) - as well as around 1400 vehicles, including tanks, heavy artillery.
This is a complete US combat brigade of last year's operation "Atlantic Resolve II" exchanged: In January 2017, the 3rd US Armored Brigade of the 4th US Infantry Division (3/4 ABCT) from Fort Carson (Colorado) in Zagan (Poland / Silesia) arrived, among others with 86 combat and 144 infantry fighting vehicles.
The 3/4 ABCT was then distributed to the Baltic States, Bulgaria and Romania, as well as to the US base Grafenwoehr in the Upper Palatinate - to train there for the worst case: a war against Russia.
