If this had happened in the Clinton White House it would've been front page news:

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1340915/posts

This guy got a Secret Service press pass using an alias, and he's a gay escort (a.k.a. prostitute) for wealthy people on the side. No story on MSNBC, CNN or Fox News, no coverage on ABC, NBC or CBS, almost no coverage in any of the so-called liberal newspapers.

This story has as much legs as a circus midget.

Imagine if he had been denied a press pass by the white house solely on the grounds of his lifestyle and sexual preferences.

Now that's a story.

The fact that he is being attacked and ridiculed by the liberal blogs for his lifestyle choices goes to show they are hypocritics to the core and will turn like a pack of hyenas on one their herd (the gays) the moment one attempts to leave the fold and question the party line.

He's a gay escort??? It's not mentioned in the article

Also note, that ... the very article you cite is from Free Republic, which is pretty conservative. So how this proves your point that the media is controlled by conservatives is beyond me.

Indeed. Apparently you haven't been broadening your blog reading base if you missed this latest kerfuffle.

I didn't cite Free Republic, I merely pointed out the current Blog buzz surrounding Mr. Gannon which IMHO seems to be based on credible research and which is currently circulating among the liberal blogs.

Much like the Eason Jordan story, this may or may not make its way into the mainstream media based upon its relevence to the greater right/left debate. And like that same story, we'll the mainstream approach it based upon the buzz within the blogosphere, well after the facts have been detailed.

My guess is we'll see this story first break in the mainstream media on the O'Reilly Factor next week. He'll discuss the very same points I made about the hypocrisy and irrelevence of the sex life surrouding this persona.

If I'm right, you have to pay me one mill-... no, ONE BILLION dollars!

Bwaahahaha!

Guys, lets just give up this facade and admit he's right. Conservatives DO control the media. We just let the NYT, CNN, CBS, and everything else LOOK liberal to fool people. We bias the news to the left so people won't know its REALLY biased to the right. Man, Karl Rove is a genius.

And secondly, this like a week or two old. It's also interesting how this sex story developed.

1) On the news it said he worked for a company that dabbled in prono a few years ago

2)Then it's "he worked for a porn producer"

3)Then: "he was a porn producer"

4) Then: "He ran an escort service"

5) And now its: "He is a gay prostitute"

A-freakn'-mazing.

To compare this to the Eason Jordan 'kerfuffle' is an apples and oranges deal. Jordan didn't have to step down, he could have had Davos release the tape.

http://www.captainsquartersblog.com/mt/archives/003839.php

...On one hand, we have a case where a reporter from a small-time news outlet with an overt political agenda hired a reporter with a shady past to cover the White House. He asked some cheesy questions with shoddy research and got caught, which should surprise no one.

On the other hand, we have the chief executive of the most influential American news agency making unsubstantiated allegations of deliberate assassination and torture by the American military, exclusively in overseas venues, none of which his news agency had ever reported back home. The same executive had earlier admitted selling out his coverage of Iraq to maintain his presence in Baghdad, enabling the worst media coverage to be broadcast here in the US as unchallenged fact -- or does anyone else remember Peter Arnett's "baby-milk factory" story? Or this instance, where in 1993 Jordan had a CNN reporter read Baghdad Bob's talking points on air as an independently-written news story?

I would ask Follman this, as a journalist: which story has the most impact? Which news agency has the most influence on American and global affairs? Which person did the most damage?

I'll grant that the port side of the blogosphere has unmasked a rather unsavory character in Gannon, but between the two, there is no comparison which was the more important story. Gannon tossed ridiculous softballs to the President during his press conferences, but no one has revealed any evidence that the White House did anything more than call on someone they knew would be sympathetic. Talon News may not be much of a news service, but it does qualify as such and has a few hundred thousand subscribed readers, even if they need a better Human Resources department. I think it's fascinating that the liberals hoisted Gannon on a gibbet for his alleged sexual activity, which makes little sense if one makes the mistake of believing in their live-and-let-live rhetoric.

If Follman really thinks Gannon was the larger and more important story rather than simply using him as a bat to beat the Eason's Fables bloggers, then he's deluding himself. If Salon's editorial policy is truly that news executives slandering American soldiers are less egregious than biased reporters tossing softballs at press conferences, then small wonder Salon makes their readers either pay subscriptions or force them to watch ads to keep afloat. When Salon pays my salary, I'll accept their editorial judgment and carry out their assignments, but until then, I'll rely on my own.

lol, you have to love those who don't want to see the obvious! I know there is a little bias throughout the media both ways but this one is trying to pin it completely on the right!

Well either conservatives are better reporters, which is really unlikely, or more to the point, the publishers don't have a problem firing their asses. ACLU is picking the wrong comparison here, with both the 'reporter,' his 'employer'-they suck. Hey another difference, no one on the right has stuck up for him, rather just commenting on how the left has lost it in their comparison with him and Jordan or Rather.

6) He knew an illegal alien

7) He was an illegal alien

8) He was abducted by aliens

9) He is an alien

10) He worked for the government in area 51 using alien technology so that Bush can take away our freedoms and steal all the oil in Iraq, while being manipulated by Karl Rove under the direction of Dick Cheney so that Bush could meet secretly with Osama Bin Laden and do cocaine because they are actually business partners in order to plan Saddam's assassination because Saddam tried to have Bush Sr. knocked off since GWB really knew 9/11 was coming, but he was too busy reading stories to 1st graders.... plus we all know that Bush is a dumb Nazi.... pant pant pant.....

plus Dan Rather was framed

it's all so obvious now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That was a GREAT joke! tell us another one!

Thread title: "Proof the media is controlled by conservatives".

ROFLMAO!!!

Oh, I'm sorry - you're SERIOUS.

I think the reason it didn't get alot of coverage is that its really no scandel that a guy working for a conservative news source would ask conservatively-biased questions. Honestly, how did this actually become a story?

I originally heard about this on the season premier of Real Time with Bill Maher (guests were Robin Williams, former H&HS Secretary Tommy Thompson, and Sen. Joe Biden). Bill also talked with Leslie Stahl of 60 minutes about the story. I then did some research and found that not one major network had reported the story, none of the so-called liberal newspapers had done any meaningful reporting on the story, and the evidence is strong, especially in light of admissions on the part of Mr. "Gannon" that he was a gay escort, and that he did have access to the White House while working for two Texas publications even though he was denied access to report at the Capitol. The fact is, the so-called liberal media is now owned by Bush-supporting big corporations and stories like this simply get quashed.

Well gee dearie, I just did a google search and it turned up 86 hits for "plame gannon". On the 11th the Kansas City Star had it, through AP. I guess you have selective hearing?

Perhaps the MSM actually guessed correct (not right) that this was a non-story that would earn no ratings points therefore it was not worthy of notice.

What's funny is that I have read several articles about this story from Townhall.com and the National Review - Both of whom identify themselves as conservative. I think the MSM knows that if it takes conservatives to task for planting a shill in the audience that their own dirty laundry will be aired.

Actually this is an example of how some Liberals take an ounce of truth and turn it into ten pounds of bullshit.
