People need to examine effects and benefits rather than allow people to shape your view of history for their own means.
In the olden days, America was having an epidemic of drunkenness. There was usually more than one brewery per town, and knuckleheads were spending all their money on booze while their families were living dirt poor.
Christian women's organizations did the right thing and tried to take positive action.
The movement was ignored but it was growing.
One day member of the corrupt government said , "You know what? YOU RIGHT!" , "let's pass an amendment to ban commercial sales of alcohol"
Around 10% of the large breweries who were in on the conspiracy temporarily switched to selling other things, while thousands of breweries closed their doors.
You have to ask yourself how private citizens can find "illegal" places to buy contraband but the police can't.
After Prohibition was overturned, the breweries who were left now held a near monopoly and had to scramble to become nation-wide distributers.
The proof that Prohibition was a hoax is in the fact that "illegal" booze was being delivered to the Capitol building while it was in effect.
... now we have the pro-drug sales propagandists referring to "Prohibition" as a policy that doesn't work
