No, the tax cuts didn't fail at anything. What failed was that they didn't cut spending.
Left-wingers have this strange idea that Right-wing ideology is that you have government cut taxes and increase spending all over the place, until you end up in bankruptcy.
That is not, nor ever has been, our belief system.
Our belief system is, you cut spending... and cut taxes... and the economy will continue to grow, and people will be better off having their own money.
In the 1920s, Calvin Coolidge had a much worse recession, than we experience in 2008.
What did government do? They CUT spending. They CUT taxes. The economy end up growing.
This isn't an buffet of policy, where you can pick what you want, and skip what you don't.
You have to cut spending and taxes. Not cut taxes, and increase spending, or even keep the same level of spending. You have to do BOTH. Not just what you want.
