You don't understand "turning the other cheek". You may have turned your back on Christ based on your own understanding.
If you were judged and found guilty, the person supposedly harmed by you can slap your right cheek with the back of their right hand. If you feel you have been found guilty unjustly, you then turn your left cheek to them as a sign of indignation, as an insult to them and a refusal to accept being shamed. Your accuser can't slap your left cheek with the back of his right hand. Your false accuser walks away humiliated.

Try this at home. Stand in front of your wife and stick your right cheek out and...

As for destroying enemies, Christ destroyed the biggest enemy you have, even though He knew the cost of doing so was a brutal, brutal beating and death. Christ no longer has a right and left cheek. They were ripped off of his face by taking handfuls of his beard and tearing it off. But you were worth it.
He did it because He wants you as a brother and co-heir of everything and every place our Father has created. He loves you.
