In the wake of the Sept. 11 attacks, the government decided to build a brand new headquarters for the Department of Homeland Security in southeastern Washington, D.C. The idea was that a centralized physical location would help close up the gaps between national security and intelligence agencies that allowed the attack to occur. The project was supposed to cost $3 billion and be completed by this year.

But so far virtually nothing has been built, according to The Washington Post; indeed, there is talk that the project will be canceled altogether. And yet the bill has already ballooned to $4.5 billion. It is a classic case of Washington dysfunction:

Bedeviled by partisan brawling, it has been starved of funds by both Republicans and Democrats in Congress and received only lackluster support from the Obama administration, according to budget documents and interviews with current and former federal officials.

The crippling shortfall in funding has created a vicious cycle, causing delays that in turn inflated the projected price tag as construction costs escalated over time and DHS agencies — still scattered in more than 50 locations across the Washington area — have been signing expensive temporary leases. And our borders are still wide open anyway. Terrorists can get in and attack anytime they choose. So the Patriot Act and NDAA were designed to be used against Americans. It does make you wonder if our Government is really concerned about Terrorism at all. Or is it just another sham used to usher in their Police State?

Yeah, it is bizarre. They tell us the Terrorist Boogeyman is gonna get us any day now, yet they keep our borders wide open. Nothing has changed on our borders since 9/11. But how can that be if they're so concerned about Terrorism?

It makes me believe there's something wrong. It's not adding up. I'm now just about convinced the Patriot Act, NDAA, and Homeland Security were created to be used as weapons against the American People. They're the only ones being effected. The Terrorists haven't been effected. They could come across our borders anytime and carry out attacks. And now they want to force Taxpayers to build them a $4.5 Billion Temple as well. If the objective was preventing terrorists from entering the country, we'd have border security. Any terrorist organization in the world knows that they can easily slip into this country through our southern border. But, that doesn't concern the regime. They are more worried about what Americans are thinking. AttackWatch was the thought police. DHS is more worried about veterans, NRA members, constitutionalists, all patriots, Libertarians and people who display flags. They've changed the list when it comes to what they watch for. Some radical Muslims had a hand in changing it. They are more likely to freak out at people making copies of the constitution than they are about groups vowing death to infidels.

It flies in the face of common sense logic. After suffering such an awful traumatic event, you would think border security would have been their number one priority. But it wasn't, and still isn't. They've kept the borders wide open. I mean, what nation leaves their borders wide open after such an attack? I can't think of another nation that would have reacted that way. It just doesn't add up.

Our Government chose instead to create an evil massive Bureaucracy called Homeland Security and force the Patriot Act and NDAA on its People. That tells me that they're not really concerned with Terrorism. Their real concern is with expanding their Police State. That's the disturbingly sad conclusion i've been forced to come to.
