Some where in the Deep South.
The recruits in our police academies are already being indoctrinated into believing all use of force is inappropriate. I honestly believe real police work is dead.
It is very difficult to explain tunnel vision and instant reaction to a civilian who has never experienced it. These oversight committees have weeks and months to review video and audio while leisurely sipping coffee and eating croissants.

The targeted officer usually has seconds if not less time to acknowledge, decipher, and react to the threat. Non-law enforcement and non-military cannot understand this concept of immediate reaction.

I fear that for the sake of political considerations, police departments across the land will morph into insurance report writers, hospital transports, and traffic control specialists. Police work as I know it has been forfeited and proactive policing is a thing of the past. Citizens will protect themselves and civil attorneys will prosper.

I graduated a major metropolitan police academy just over three years ago and I can tell you unequivocally that is not the case.

Based on a lot of the police involved shootings where they empty their weapons into a suspect, stop, reload, and then empty it again, they don't teach much about ammo control.

When I was stationed at Newport RI, I was part of the Security Force, and spent a couple of days out on the range every month going through our shooting course. Some, you would fire 2, some you would fire 1, and some you would fire 3, all from different positions, behind doors, out windows, behind barriers, kneeling, prone, etc.

If you ran out of ammo before you finished the course because you weren't paying attention to your ammo control, the Gunny had your ass for dinner.

A lot? List them all.

The current procedure seems to be "spray and pray". Maybe it's time to require police carry only single-action revolvers.

......god forbid if the cops protect themselves from dangerous/armed/insane/etc jackasses

yes, how many times does this happen per incident?
there are Millions of calls for police assistance per year--not counting traffic stops
....however, if it is a jackass/dangerous/insane/etc criminal, who cares how many rounds they put into him/fire ?
