So, Common, he writes about shooting police and ‘burning a Bush…” Art! He’s an artist!
    What the dillio?

If our beclouded friends think that this is an issue of artistic freedom, it’s because the schools no longer teach history, and the friends neither read nor remember.

Big Picture. There is a powerful element in our nation that is beyond being defined as a ‘Fifth Column.’
If you voted in the wrong way in ’08, it’s either because you didn’t realize the doctrines you were supporting, or because you were validating the worst aspects of your own character, those based on hate and envy…you just thought it was ‘hope and change.’

    1. Marx and Engels claimed that capitalism would be detrimental to society, and that there would be permanent classes of rich and poor. This proved false almost from the start. Karl Marx was in favor of destroying society in order to change any innate nature man possessed.

    2. Antonio Gramsci (1891-1937), sought the destruction of society as the precondition for the eventual victory of global Marxism. Gramsci believed that it was necessary first to delegitimize the dominant belief systems of the predominant groups.John Fonte -- Why There Is A Culture War: Gramsci and Tocqueville in America

    a. Gramsci said it this way: “Man is above all else, consciousness…That is, he is a product of history, not nature. There is no other way of explaining why socialism has not come into existence already.” Christopher Lasch, “Heaven in a Heartless World,” p. 86.

    3. Gyorgy Lukacs promoted the idea that while Marx’s Dialectic Materialism may not have been predictive, it hinted at the real necessity: destroying the status quo would bring Marxism. This could be done through breaking down traditional Judeo-Christian morality and discrediting and undermining the established institutions from within.

    a. The new emphasis would be on liberating all men and women from the “evil repression” and “tyrannical values” of Judeo-Christian civilization. To bring this about, they designed numerous strategies to discredit and smear the values that had forged and sustained the West for 2,000 years.” Political Correctness Exposed | Amos 3:7

    4. Now, the predominance of the Marxist Frankfurt School in our universities has resulted in the Balkanization of America…resulting in the administration today in Washington. And the ‘poetry celebration’ under the First Lady is one more example of this destructive cabal:

    A Letter to the Law
    Dem boy wanna talk… [indistinguishable]
Whatcha gon do if ya got one gun?
I sing a song for the hero unsung
with faces on the mural of the revolution
Tell the law, my Uzi weighs a ton
    I walk like a warrior,
A guinea won’t see the sun
    with his family stung
I got the black strap to make the cops run
Burn a Bush cos’ for peace he no push no button
I hold up a peace sign, but I carry a gun.
: Michelle Obama | Burn Bush | Poetry | The Daily Caller

Obama likes music I do not?

Lord forbid I start quoting some Floyd at him.

Is there a topic here greater than comparing the musical tastes of politicians?

    John Fogerty for office!

As usual, another intelligent thread from you, PC. You have your facts and links straight.

When "The One" was running for office, I knew from his friends and associates and how he had voted while in the Senate, what we were in for. I didn't know how bad and destructive to our American traditions he would be, though. Or how soon. I didn't know of radical progressiveness and corruption. I do now.

"If you want to know more about a person, look at their friends."

Here is a link that will show you all of Lady Obama's quotes since `08, where she talks about her husband's native country, Kenya.

    Michelle Obama Quotes

    One quote:

"In the video above, that went viral last month after it was resurrected from the archives, Michelle Obama states, "When we took our trip to Africa and visited his home country in Kenya, we took a public HIV test.""

More of PC's rabid, mouth-foaming, fire-n'-brimstone threads about the impending collapse of Western civilization.

Have you ever thought about writing your own book or perhaps even a short novella on the subject?

Jesus, you can't even complain about the man's lyrics without turning to the Big Book of Quotations to find someone else t do your thinking for you.

Have you ever had a thought of your own?

I think she's getting her own show on FNC, filling Beck's old spot.

    Same writers, apparently.

You're making a great mistake here, Perc...

In fact, poetry and art has been used as propaganda for centuries.

The Aeneid, by Virgil as was used as propaganda to inform Romans of their ‘history’ and their destiny.

1."In 1622 Pope Gregory XV created in Rome the Congregation for the Propagation of the Faith. This was a commission of cardinals charged with spreading the faith and regulating church affairs in heathen lands. A College of Propaganda was set up under Pope Urban VIII to train priests for the missions." What is Propaganda?: The Story of Propaganda

    2. " The leaders of the French Revolution consciously employed all forms of art to mobilize public sentiment in favor of the new France and French nationalism. In the absence of mass media, artists were able to reach and influence a large number of the population who were not otherwise accessible to propaganda." Art as National Propaganda in the French Revolution
    Familiar with Gericault? David?

    3. The first true modern dictatorship was established in the in the United States under the 20th century’s first fascist dictator: Woodrow Wilson. During WW I, under the Progressive Woodrow Wilson, American was a fascist nation.
    a. Had the world’s first modern propaganda ministry
    b. Leading artists and writers dedicated their work to proselytizing for the government.
    http://www.ncpa.org/pdfs/Classical_Liberalism_vs_Modern_Liberal_Conservatism.pdf p. 9
And you've seen the paintings done during the FDR administration?

    4. "I am by no means opposed to partisanship in poetry as such," wrote Engels. "Both Aeschylus, the father of tragedy, and Aristophanes, the father of comedy, were highly partisan poets, Dante and Cervantes were so no less, and the best thing that can be said about Schiller's Kabale and Liebe is that it represents the first German political problem drama."(Marx and Engels, On Art and Literature, p. 88.)

    5. Mayakovsky, "the drummer-boy of the revolution", also came into his own. In 1918 he wrote 'Left March':
    Left!
    Left!
    Left!
    Ahoy, blue jackets!
    Cleave skywards!
    Beyond the oceans!
    Unless
    your battleships on the roads
    blunted their keels fighting keenness!
Baring the teeth of his crown,
let the lion of Britain whine, gale-heft,
The Commune can never go down.Left!
    Left!
    Left!
    There-
    beyond sorrow's seas
    sunlit lands unchartered.
    Beyond hunger,
    beyond plague's dark peaks,
    tramps the march of millions!
Let armies of hirelings ambush us,
streaming cold steel through every rift.
    L'Entente can't conquer the Russians.Left!
    Left!
    Left!
Does the eye of the eagle fade?
Shall we stare back to the old?
    Proletarian fingers
    grip tighter
    the throat of the world:
    Chests out! Shoulders straight!
Stick to the sky red flags adrift!
Who is marching there with the right?

    6. And the Obama White House Ministry of Propaganda:

    a. “At first glance, the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) conference call of August 10th, 2009 sounds innocent enough because it’s supposedly been organized by Michael Skolnik, political director for Russell Simmons and someone not officially associated with any government agency. Skolnik appears to be acting independently as a concerned citizen and to have taken it upon himself to gather together a group of artists and art organizations hoping to move them towards “national service.”

    b. … the conference call was a ruse, a front for a White House using Skolnik as a kind of beard in order to put an innocent spin on their abuse of the NEA and two non-partisan volunteer organizations (United We Serve – an initiative overseen by The Corporation for National and Community Service – a federal agency, and the White House’ Office of Public Engagement).

    c. Skolnik states openly that the White House and NEA asked him to round everyone up…

I have been asked by folks in the White House and folks in the NEA about a month ago in a conversation that was had. We had the idea that I would help bring together the independent artists community around the country. “ Big Hollywood » Blog Archive » Propaganda, Health Care and ACORN: Full Context of NEA Conference Call Reveals Disturbing Pattern

The difficulty for many is in seeing one seemingly isolated event, i.e., the reading of 'poety' hostile to traditional Western values at the White House as part of a larger Marxist plot dating back over a century....

I understand the reticence...but don't dismiss it out of hand until you do some of your own research.

    I agree with PC!

Poetry and politics do mix. Modern poetry, rock/pop music has plenty of political references. Take it back to the end of the sixties and even the back street boys, er Beetles I mean, became peace loving fools and made better music.
