    hell ya--from putting pennies on the tracks to jumping off just before the engine whooshed by. Your right--lucky.
    I bet others here have some good train stories too !

    seeing car totaled and lives lost by them, saw a many of those. we had a swimming hole under the trussel bridge we'd see who would wait the longest till the train got on us before we jump off in the water.

    As loud as trains are , did you know they are totally silent when coming up behind you ?

    Used to cross a train trestle all the time when i was a kid. Never had a close call but it used to scare the hell out of me

    I read this story yesterday. Those poor, poor kids. How awful for them and their families.

    In 1987, one of the local kids lost his right arm playing on teh tracks, he slipped jumping from frieght car to car, and his arm was pinned and sawed off under a wheel.

    He was lucky to survive it, the kid was only 16 at the time.
